And with people more likely to turn to cosmetics rather than procedures to enhance and change their features these days, it’s no surprise faking a fuller pout is popular.
So if you’re looking to perk up your pout, here are some tips on how you can do so.
Step 1: Line those lips
Lip liner is your best friend when it comes to full lips; it’s all about definition and creating the perfect shape. Bolder lips are best pulled off with a natural shade, so find a tone that best matches your choice of lip colour and trace the outline of your mouth, applying the pencil slightly above the edges of your lips and really accentuating your Cupid’s bow.
Step 2: Fill with the pencil
So now you’ve got extra protection from your main lip product bleeding onto the skin around your mouth, move inwards with your lining pencil to create a thick rim. By using a natural, nude colour that suits your skin tone it won’t look dramatic and will simply keep things in place later on.
Step 3: Pull out your product
Whether it’s a crayon, lipstick or liquid, it doesn’t matter, so long as it’s not a shiny, glossy finish. Relatively matte options work best in this scenario as the last thing you want is to have fake looking shiny lips. Matte products make the end results more relaxed and natural, which is what you want when you’re faking a bigger pout. Fill in the lips, ensuring there’s no gaps between the liner and end product.
Step 4: Blend
To ensure the lip liner and filler product don’t clash, take a lip brush and blend the two in together to give a smooth, flawless finish. You can also clean and use this brush, preferably an angled one, to give one final highlight to you Cupid’s bow with a touch of illuminating powder, in case it’s got lost along the way.
Step 5: Secure
Dab some of your favourite translucent powder around your mouth to prevent smudging and you’re set to go!
