The Food Scene

Johannesburg’s top food traders and food trucks are set to deliver the best of the city’s street food in a fest of flavour and fabulousness. From wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted burgers and pulled pork buns, to fried chicken and authentic street tacos, festival-goers will be able to choose from a colourful line-up of food trucks, from the smallest yellow Tuk Tuk to the largest green double decker bus.

DStv Delicious has partnered with Gauteng Tourism Authority  to bring 10 authentic restaurant traders and creative foodies to the festival. These food aficionados are at the forefront of reimagining traditional South African food with an extra-delicious twist. Consumers will be transported back to their youth and the smells and tastes of home style cooking.

Food Network

Once again, Food Network will return to the festival with the South African star of Siba’s Table, Siba Mtongana, who will host a series of food styling demonstrations with her usual pizzazz. Siba will show audiences how to prepare a few of her signature recipes from her brand-new series, Siba’s Table, demonstrating how anyone can make their own ‘Sibalicious’ creations at home.

Fans will get the opportunity to meet Siba throughout the weekend and stand a chance of winning on-the-spot prizes, including copies of her award-winning recipe book, My Table. Siba will stick around between her sessions for selfies with the audience in the Food Network photo booth.

The Great South African Bake Off

The Great South African Bake Off (BBC Lifestyle on DStv’s channel 174) returns to the festival with its first-ever patisserie. Cake lovers will be able to experience the delightful baked treats of the #SABakeOff patisserie, which is exclusive to visitors at this year’s festival. They can also grab a selfie or get invaluable baking tips from some of the show’s judges when they make guest appearances at the festival.

The Disney Cookabout

The Disney Cookabout, a comedic adventure game-show, hosted by Chef Kirsten Mohamed and her side-kick Sous Chef Mthunzi Ntoyi, will show a dynamic group of ‘cooktestants’ how to create simple and appetising meals. The Cookabout will take place at DStv’s food truck, The Runaway Chef, which will also play Disney content on its screens.

The Kids Zone
