The singer sat down for an interview with an online talk show this week, when she appeared on camera wearing a stylish green camouflage jumpsuit.
She later took to Instagram to share the brand of her outfit, revealing it had actually come from U.S. teen favourite Forever 21, where it retails for just R543,67 ($40), and revealed she had to part ways with a style expert over the wardrobe choice because the unidentified employee made it very clear he didn't think much of the budget find.
"The stylist today tried to make me feel 'less than' because he didn't agree that I should wear @forever21," she wrote next to a side-by-side photo comparing her look to an image of one of the brand's models wearing the same jumpsuit.
"well.. I FIRED him because NO ONE should make you feel 'less than' because you have on a $40 outfit!! How AWFUL!!," Tamar continued. "..so my clothes make me?!.. NEVER!!!..."
She then shared a powerful message with her fans, stating: "Be confident in WHATEVER u have....Wear, are, and CHOOSE to be or afford!! You BETTER walk in confidence no matter what shape, size, or financial situation!! You are AMAZING and don't let ANYONE bully you into spending what you have.. or NOT.. it doesn't make you ANY LESS FABULOUS!! You make the clothes!! Your SPIRIT makes you!! EMBRACE YOU!! YOU ARE PERFECT!! NO MATTER WHAT!! #LOVEYOU (sic)".
Tamar isn't the only celebrity to rock budget fashions from affordable retailers - actress Blake Lively recently stepped out in R543,67 ($40) Old Navy jeans, while Beyonce is known for her love of Topshop.© Cover Media
