How to pick the perfect hair colour for your skin tone

Before we delve into hair colour, let’s first explain common skin undertones. There are three categories that most people fall into: warm, cool and neutral. Figuring out which you are can be overwhelming, but relax – we’ll help you:

Research all the shades that are available in the colour you want. Check to see if it will balance your skin tone.

When drawing inspiration from your favourite celebrities, try to choose people with similar skin and eye colour to yours. It’ll give you a much better idea of how the hair colour will look on you in the end.

Another way of trying a new hair colour is to match it to your wrist. Select the colour you want, then place it around your wrist. The results will be immediate – if your veins are blue or purple, you’re most likely cool-toned, and if they’re green, you’re warm.

The other great option is to actually walk into a hair shop and try different coloured wigs in different shapes. Yes!

Amanda Black – Blue Mermaid

These ombré turquoise long braids are a perfect match for Amanda Black’s beautiful dark skin tone. If you’re dark and were in doubt about bright colours, this is it! Opt for ombré instead of a solid shade as they will wash out your face, which you don’t want.

Rorisang Thandekiso – Pink Princess

The lighter your skin tone, the more choices you have with bright shades. Rorisang’s skin is a brilliant match for pink. When choosing fibre, don’t be too nervous about the contrast with your hair colour. The effect is part of the charm!

K Naomi - Caramel Queen

K Naomi’s caramel skin tone looks radiant against her similar-coloured weave. Ask your hairstylist to experiment with highlights in order to get maximum reflection from the light.

Amanda Du-Pont – Black power

The classic pairing of jet black against light skin tones is always a win as they’re complementary. Amanda looks amazing!

??Thank you God????
