Who is Saadique Ryklief?

I’m a passionate multi award-winning hairstylist. I’ve contributed significantly in premier events such as De Beers, Anglo Gold Jewellery and featured as Head of Design for Hair for the The Nokia Face of Africa, which kicked off in Africa and later taken globally to London, New York and Paris.

What has been the highlight of your career?

It was working with Noami Campbell, Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Bonang Matheba, Pearl Thusi and now the Queen of Swaziland, Nothando, amongst many others.

How do you keep setting trends?

Trends are seasonal, I don’t believe in following trends; instead I find something that works for you and make it trendy.

How long have you been in the industry?

I started my career through establishing my own salon when I was a 20-something-year-old. I later realised a need for hair art in the fashion industry, then I crossed over and decided that there’s no limit and I want to break all boundaries.

Who inspires you and your craft?

My craft is based on my mood, I like being authentic and forward thinking so when I’m booked on a job my work must speak for itself. To me, this isn’t just doing hair but its’ a craft. With that being said, I always want my clients to leave me feeling like a million dollars and that they trust in my ability and talent.

How has social media grown your name and business?

Having the likes of Bonang give me public credit means now I’ve been blessed with working with the Queen of Swaziland. I now get direct bookings from international clients because they can see my ability to do the job.

Where do you see yourself and your business in the next 5 years?

One of my future ventures is to establish a hair school so I can groom and hone the talents of future stylists. This will give me the chance to leave a legacy behind for other creatives.
