"Labour pains are unbearable"

The beauty about labour is that you get to choose what works best for you. In addition, bodies react differently to labour. We all have different levels of pain tolerance and for someone with a low pain tolerance this is a deal breaker, hence many choose to go the epidural way to reduce of pain during childbirth.   

"Forget about getting any sleep"

This is usually the first thing experienced mothers say to expectant moms – if you enjoy and take your sleep seriously, it’s enough to scare you. But, what most people don’t realise is that children differ, therefore experiences with motherhood will differ as well. Some kids keep their parents up while others sleep peacefully.

"You’ll never get your body back"

While some women gain weight drastically during pregnancy, others don’t and they keep active during their pregnancy. Nonetheless, no-one wants to be told that they’ll never lose the pregnancy weight. Celebrities like Pabi Moloi have proven that with the right diet and adequate exercise, losing pregnancy weight is possible.

"You’ll always be tired"

Adjusting to being a new mom is not easy and as you’re finding your feet, it’s only natural that you get tired along the way. But once you and baby get used to your routine everything falls into place. Women across the world become new mothers every day and still get back to working.

"We can tell the gender"

In African culture our grandmothers believe that one can tell the gender of your baby by looking at your facial features. If you want to keep the gender a mystery, this could unnecessarily scare you off.
