It’s a sad time for avid Uzalo viewers as they will soon bid farewell to MaNgcobo, played by Dawn Thandeka King - who’s leaving the show to pursue other endeavours.

The actress shared a moving video on her Instagram where the cast and crew of Uzalo paid tribute to her character, MaNgcobo, in song. In the video, an emotional Dawn is seemingly overwhelmed by the love shown and teary-eyed as she claps along to the song being shared.

I will miss MaNgcobo and I will miss everyone who opened their hearts to me

She described her exit as the ‘end of an era’

“End of an amazing Era. Thank you Stained Glass TV and SABC 1 for everything,” she wrote in the caption of her post.

“I will miss MaNgcobo and I will miss everyone who opened their hearts to me. It’s been a beautiful journey. Will we meet again.”

In a statement shared with Times Live, Executive producer, Mmamitse Thibedi thanked Dawn, and two other cast members that are leaving, for their great work.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have worked with such a remarkable host of actors,” Thibedi said.

“We thank Siyabonga Shibe, Dawn Thandeka King and Jet Novuka for the great work they produced as part of the Uzalo family. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”

Fortunately, we’ll be seeing Dawn back on our screens in April. She’ll be starring in Mzansi Magic’s new telenovela called DiepCity. The new show will be taking over Isibaya’s daily 20:30 slot on the channel from April 5, and the last episode of Isibaya will air on April 2.
