
Fans took to social media to congratulate Leanne Manas for being awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite (Knight of the National Order of Merit Award). They also share heart-warming childhood memories of watching the television anchor every morning on Morning Live alongside the late Vuyo Mbuli.
On 17 May 2022, the multi-award-winning broadcast anchor was honoured with the prestigious award by the Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E Mr Aurélien Lechevallier.
The MC, motivational speaker and businesswoman is a renowned television host and has interviewed the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Nelson Mandela and an impressive range of other public figures, heads of state, thought leaders as well as local and international celebrities.

Taking to social media to express her gratitude and honour for receiving the award, Leanne said, “Thank you Ambassador for the honour and to President @EmmanuelMacron I am truly humbled by this incredible accolade”.
The Ambassador of France, who handed the award over to Leanne on behalf of the French president, also took to social media to congratulate the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, saying, “Yesterday, @LeanneManas has been awarded by the French National Order of Merit for her contribution for media and journalism and her humanitarian work with refugees. Congratulations!”
In attendance at the award ceremony was Leanne's family, including her mother and father, children and husband, as well as member of Parliament Bantu Holomisa and founder of Brand Africa Thebe Ikalafeng, among others. Industry peers and media were also in attendance to celebrate Leanne.
In response to Leanne dedicating her honour to her late colleague and friend, Vuyo Mbuli, fans praised and congratulated her on her long service in the media industry while reminiscing about their memories when watching the pair on screen.
