After a stellar performance that earned her two Emmy nominations for her role as Winnie in Mzansi Magic’s Is’thunzi , Thuso Mbedu bagged herself a leading role in the American series, The Underground Railroad – and after two years in production, the series will be coming to our screens soon!

In the series, which is based on a novel written by American author, Colson Whitehead, Thuso plays the role of Cora, a slave in the southeastern United States during the 19th century, who makes a bid for freedom from their Georgia plantations by following the Underground Railroad, which the novel depicts as primarily a rail transport system in addition to a series of safe houses and secret routes.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday evening, the actress posted a trailer of the series which showcases her in all her splendor!

In the 30-second-long trailer, we first see Cora catching a train to freedom before the clip moves to other parts of the story.

After seeing the trailer, many fans praised Thuso for her talent and thanked her for flying the South African flag high. Her industry colleagues also celebrated her and congratulated her.
