While the coronavirus is what 2020 will mostly be remembered for - a memory that will not necessarily spark joy - for many, it will also be the year that they became parents and welcomed new life right in the middle of a global pandemic.

This year saw many of our stars celebrating the arrival of their little bundles of joy and beginning their parenthood journeys. Here are 6 celebs who became parents in 2020:

1. Omuhle Gela

Actress Omuhle Gela kept her pregnancy under wraps for a while and surprised her fans with a pregnancy picture after she had already given birth.

Now, the first time mom to a baby girl has expressed how much she enjoys being a mother and posts sneak peek pictures of her daughter on Instagram.

2. Pearl Modiadie

Radio and TV personality Pearl Modiadie kept her pregnancy a secret and only made an official announcement after she had given birth. 

The former Zaziwa host shared an image of her child in September and followed it up with photos from her stunning pregnancy shoot.

3. Zenande Mfenyana 

The Queen actress Zenande Mfenyana recently gave birth to her first child - a baby girl. She often shares her motherhood journey on Twitter and she recently had this to say: "My entire world in my arms daily, a blessing I don’t take for granted. I’m honoured to have been chosen by God to be my sweet angel’s Mama."

4. Nicki Minaj

In July, rapper Nicki Minaj announced that she was pregnant by posting a picture of her grown baby bump.

According to Hollywood reporter, the Barbie Tingz hit-maker and her husband, Kenneth Petty welcomed their child on Wednesday, 30 September 2020. They are yet to reveal the name or gender of their baby.

5. Cassper Nyovest

Rapper Cassper Nyovest also became a first-time dad this year. He commemorated this milestone by dedicating his latest album, Any Minute Now to his son.

He and his long-time girlfriend, Thobeka Majozi welcomed baby Khotso Izwe Simba Phoolo in September.

6. Simphiwe Ngema

Actress Simphiwe Ngema melted the hearts of many when she announced that she was expecting a baby and had found love again in the hands of supermodel, Tino Chinyani.

“Indeed there is a God in heaven. He wiped away my tears and gave me joy in abundance. You’ve brought hope and purpose to my life. @tino_chinyani I will forever be grateful to you for this beautiful gift and for teaching me how to love again. I love you both with all my heart,” she captioned a picture from her pregnancy shoot.

The couple welcomed a baby boy named Tiyani Kemorena Michael Chinyani, who has a clothing brand named after him.

7. Cici

Singer Busisiwe 'Cici' Thwala also welcomed a baby boy earlier this year. She named her son Diallo and opened up an Instagram page for him, where all his cute pics and videos can be adored by fans.

Cici has also inspired many with her quick post-partum weightloss.
