  • Nivea South Africa recently launched its radiant and beauty body lotions that cater to melanated skin.
  • Miss SA 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida is one of the lead faces for the campaign.
  • She says that she has learnt to be more intentional about taking good care of her skin because it promotes self care.

Former Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida is one of the faces of Nivea's new radiant and beauty body lotions range that aims celebrate and cater to melanated skin.

The launch event, which was hosted by Bonang Matheba, saw women coming together to share conversations about self-love, skincare and feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Nivea’s brand manager, Sne Njapha says that the range was formulated with the consumers in mind.

“We care beyond skin and care about the individual as a whole. We recognise that the individual is more than just their skin. It’s about their dreams and everything that keeps them alive but within that, we recognise the important role that skin plays. Skin is something that facilitates healthy and meaningful relationships. When your skin is beautiful and you feel confident in your skin, it helps you become a better person because you feel more confident to show up,” she says.

Speaking to TRUELOVE as one of Nivea’s lead faces for the campaign, Shudufhdadzo explained what being part of such a campaign means to her.

“It’s a full-circle moment and it means that the little girl who used to use Nivea is now part of a brand that focuses on representation. It’s always represented us but to see it visually is amazing because of the wonderful women I get to work with. It’s just a full-circle moment to know that I’m now officially part of the Nivea family, which I grew up using,” she says.

On how she first became introduced to the importance of taking good care of her skin, Shudu says she stumbled upon the use of sunscreen when she was watching SABC 1 soapie, Generations.

“One tip I’ve learned over the years is to use sunscreen every day, even when the sun is not out. I actually learnt this from Generations, I think it was Dineo’s sister who said she never leaves the house without applying sunscreen, and since then I’ve also adopted that,” she says before sharing what her skincare routine consists of.

“For my face I just wash with a cleanser and then follow that with a toner. I then put sunscreen on every day. In terms of my body, I moisturise every day without fail and I’m learning to take my time with that because I usually rush through it. Now I’m being intentional about it because it’s also part of a self-care journey where you have to be present,” she says.

For those who hope to improve the condition of their skin and have a healthy glow, Shudu recommends “taking your time with your skincare routine, wiping off makeup before going to bed, wearing lots of sunscreen, and moisturising your body thoroughly”.
