Maps Maponyane, Babalwa Mneno and Riky Rick were just some of the famous faces that took to the virtual New York Fashion Week runway for the debut of MaXhosa Africa's Spring/Summer 2021.

The show was introduced by media personality Unathi Nkayi who revealed that this is "the brightest collection curated to remind us to be positive" and essentially bring us some happiness in a time of global turmoil.

Titled "Ingumangaliso Imisebenzi KaThixo" which means that 'God's work is miraculous', Laduma Ngxokolo, designer and founder of the luxury fashion brand, explains that he wanted to evoke feelings of happiness because he believes that "happiness is the new luxury".

"The theme for this year's Spring/Summer 2021... is a song title that was written by our grandfather Mike Ngxokolo," he explained at the end of the show.

"The context behind the song was that God’s work is so wonderful that we don’t even acknowledge how wonderful it is. We walk out of our houses and enjoy the sun, but don’t know how the sun rises every morning or how nature rises from the earth."

This particular collection is an artful clash of colours and prints that are a seamless balance between sophistication and playfulness.
