What you'll need

  • 1 loaf white bread, cut into 4 quarters
  • 250 g minced beef
  • 2 potatoes, peeled
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 T butter 
  • 1⁄4 tsp baking powder
  • 1⁄4 cup cream
  • 3 T sunflower oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 T curry powder 
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 cup atchaar

Here's how

1. Place potatoes in a saucepan and boil until tender. Season with salt and black pepper. Mash them, then stir in butter, baking powder and cream. Simmer for 5 minutes on very low heat.

2. In another saucepan, heat oil and brown minced meat. Add onion and garlic, and fry for 3 minutes. Add curry, and fry for 5 minutes. 

 

3. Add stock, and simmer on medium heat for 20 minutes. 

4. Scoop the inside of the bread. Spread atchaar, top with mashed potato and minced meat.
