Zindzi Mandela served as South Africa’s ambassador to Denmark, and served as the deputy-president of the Soweto Youth Congress. Among other things, the 59-year-old was also an underground operative for the African National Congress’ uMkhonto we Sizwe.
According to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s office, Mandela died in hospital in the early hours of Monday, 13 July. A woman of many words, Mandela left us with many motivational quotes that we appreciate. Here are some of those words of wisdom.
“Whenever someone tries to silence you, you must be as loud as possible...”
“Whoever our creator is, the first instrument you were ever given is your voice. That’s the first instrument. So that needs to be heard loud, continuously…”
“It’s very, very important for us to be able to be spiritually aligned to the universe. It’s very important for us to be able to get back our cultural tools that empowered us as people, and made us a strong people.”
“No matter how excellent government policies might be, they cannot be implemented with a mindset that is not ready to receive… you have to change that mindset from that of a victim to that of an achiever in terms of our people – the previously oppressed people.”
“We need to live in a world that is ego-free and humble ourselves to talent, wisdom, and courage, when it reveals itself.”
