October is Mental Health Awareness month and the objective of this acknowledgement is not only about educating the public about mental health but also about reducing the stigma and discrimination that people with mental illness are often subjected to.

According to the World Health Organisation, work is good for mental health but a negative working environment can lead to physical and mental health problem.

Penny Mkhize, a 34-year-old HR specialist and mental health & gender-based violence advocate, spends her days fighting cases for employees who have suffered an injustice simply because they didn’t know the law. She walks employees through the labour laws and shields them from abusive employers.
