Victoria beckham took to Instagram to announce on her story that she too eats the biblical bread called, Ezekiel 4:9 bread. In her post, she wrote, “My breakfast. Ezekiel toast with avocado. We switched our bread to this! Even the kids like it.”
This bread is popular for individuals who are not gluten-sensitive and not on a carb-restricted diet. The price ranges from R112 to R775 for a loaf on Wantitall online.
About the bread:
According to Healthline, Ezekiel 4:9 bread contains no sugar and is made from organic, spouted whole grains. Compared to white bread, which is made of refined wheat flour, Ezekiel bread is much richer in healthy nutrients and fiber. The bread contains several different types of grains and legumes.
There are 4 types of cereal grains: wheat, millet, barley and spelt and 2 types of legumes: soybeans and lentils.
The ingredients are inspired by the biblical verse Ezekiel 4:9 which goes: "Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side."
Before the grains and legumes are processed, mixed together and backed to produce the final product, they are organically grown and allowed to sprout. The bread is accessible in some supermarkets but it will be a bit of a mission to find it, a better chance will be at organic markets. You can also opt to make one yourself by following online recipes.
How are spouted grains healthy? When the 6 ingredients combine, they create a protein that closely parallels the protein found in milk and eggs. Sprouting unlocks vitamins and minerals, making them more readily absorbable by the body during digestion.
