By now some of you may have seen the beloved comedian Suzelle DIY, not on her usual YouTube videos but on your TV screens.

Referred to as the queen of DIY, Suzelle is the official host for TV show Most Ridiculous that plays on Comedy Central.

We had a chat with Suzelle on some interesting beauty and food DIY hacks to try and why she joined the show.

What are the most ridiculous DIY tricks you’ve ever done?

I once made a rotisserie braai out of a bicycle, that was pretty ridiculous. Look, it worked so well and it was a lot of fun. Shame, poor Marianne (her friend), she has to ride the bicycle. I have peeled apples with a drill, that is pretty ridiculous but very effective – if I do say so myself. I’ve made a DIY air conditioner out of a cooler box, which is also ridiculous and crazy!

Tell us about how you make your fashion choices?

I’m very inspired by bright colours, I love to accessorise, I love to celebrate my femininity and wear bright, bold colours, frill and florals – those are the things that inspire me and that make me feel happy and positive. So that’s how I see myself in terms of fashion.

What does your beauty routine entail? Any DIY tips?

In terms of my beauty routine, I have a very DIY beauty routine. I keep things simple, I don’t go too fancy and old school, I do my makeup, I do everything myself. My hairstyles can be a little tricky at times but you know I’ve got my tricks, and I just used a lot of hair clips and a lot of hairspray and I feel great.

I am a huge advocate of DIY beauty products, so many beauty products we use these days are full of ingredients that we can’t understand, that are full of preservatives and that kind of thing. So I like to use natural things, things you might find your home, for example apple cider vinegar. If you mix a bit of apple cider vinegar with water and you just splash it on your face it’s actually a stunning toner.

Also, use bicarbonate of soda instead of shampoo sometimes. I know it’s a bit controversial but it really works, you just sprinkle in and it really refreshes your hair and it doesn’t make it so heavy and it really doesn’t carry all of those harsh chemicals.

What are the best snacks to have when watching Suzelle’s Most Ridiculous?

I love to eat something crunchy when I’m watching funny things, so normal popcorn but not any old popcorn. I like to DIY and jazz up my popcorn a little bit with the toppings and spices, sometimes I make popcorn that is sweet and sour, you can add a tiny bit of sugar, salt and cinnamon on kettle corn type of popcorn. Another thing you can do is sprinkle a little bit of chilli flakes, a little bit of olive oil and it makes such a delicious savoury yummy snack, it’s perfect for watching comedy.

How did you decide to work on Comedy Central's Most Ridiculous show?

I’ve worked with Comedy Central before and they’re so wonderful to work with so I jumped at the opportunity. Also because this kind of show is my thing, YouTube clips, it’s funny, light hearted and I really felt like I just fit in well in that world.

How important is it for you to be on this show?

I’m very excited that it’s launching in Women’s Month, I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate women and the brilliant comedians that we have, creative women in South Africa. I think it’s a wonderful time to celebrate all the girls. You know there’s so much more that women can do and I’m so happy to be a part of that.

I feel very excited about the opportunity, I think there are so many talented female comedians that we don’t even know about yet. I am hoping that I can inspire people and possibly show that women are actually as funny as the boys and show that our brand of comedy is wonderful, we should celebrate it more.

What unique factor is Suzelle bringing to the show?

I think Suzelle is going to bring a very South African flavour to the show, which is a bit different from the Most Ridiculous' they’ve screened in the past. When we put Suzelle in an environment with other fun guests, we never know what going to happen. So it’s going to be a lot of laughter, very light hearted, a bit of fun and I think people will enjoy the Suzelle flavour of the show.
