  • There are many misconceptions surrounding relationships, from the ongoing debate about gender roles to the misconceptions of them all, that a woman needs a man or needs one to take care of her financially.
  • In 2021, women have made it clear that being in a relationship is a choice and not a need.
  • Among these women are celebrities who are not shy to let the world know their preferences and cultivate love and happiness within themselves.

Ashley Roberts – Support my independence

The Pussycat Dolls star insisted she doesn’t need a boyfriend to rely on financially or to be taken care of, but she would like to find a partner who loves her independence as much as she does.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a learning thing. It’s just something new that would be nice to have. I’ve been really good at being driven and taking care of myself, and I would like for someone to come in and support me. Not financially, and not that I need a man to take care of me, but I would like to share my life with someone whose company I enjoy and who supports me,” she says.

The star continued to add that she is doing well on her own and would prefer a partner with emotional intelligence, “I’m really good on my own. So this is the thing, it’s finding someone to go on adventures with. I want to experience the world with someone that makes me laugh, but who also has the emotional intelligence to have an interesting conversation.”

Zendaya – Be a good person

Known for stepping on necks during red carpet appearances, the Euphoria star earlier this year was asked in an interview what quality she likes in a man, and she responded: “Some people are just good people”.

Speaking on Vanity Fair’s The Proust Questionnaire, she continued to say the question is a big one. “I most like in a person, how about that? It’s such a big question. What is the quality I most like in someone? I would say kindness is kind of not the best way to describe it, but some people are just good, and you can just feel it,” she said.

“And I don’t know how to explain that, but there’s this little spark they have or this little special thing that they have, that just you feel safe and happy around them. I don’t know what that is, but some people have it, and it’s special,” she added.

Charlize Theron - Don’t pee on my parade

Last year, the ‘Old Guard’ actress said she is open to a new relationship, but she has decided she won’t be making any changes to suit a potential partner because she’s pleased with her life the way it is. Speaking to Hello! Magazine, the actress, said, “I’m still very open to love. I’d love to meet somebody. However, if something doesn’t feel right, I’m not willing to compromise.

The star has been enjoying being a mother, “I’m raising my beautiful children with this incredible ‘village’. Some of them are my best friends, as well as my mother. My life is just too beautiful, too good and, I’m too happy to have anybody come and pee on my parade.”

Keke Palmer – Single, till married

Keke Palmer says she is not buying into the girlfriend and boyfriend title anymore. The 27-year-old took to TikTok to participate in the trend where people say things that are unacceptable and then respond with a question that confronts the unacceptability of what’s being said.

She starts the video by saying, “Dudes be like, ‘I want you to be my girlfriend’.”

After she says that, a dramatic sound comes on to which she continues to say, “But are you going to marry me? Are we ready to take it somewhere out of kid world? Because I’m not trying to be locked into nothin’ unless you’re going to lock me in for life."

The star ends the video by suggesting friendship instead of dating, “Because we can just be friends and kick it til’ you’re ready to go.” Keke also shared the TikTok video as part of her Instagram reels, captioning it: “I don’t believe in girlfriend and boyfriend. I’m single till I’m married. Let’s just kick it, love.”
