  • Twin sisters Mackenna and Taylor Patterson-Hall have become popular on social media for dressing up like musician Ariana Grande.
  • Their looks take a lot of work to put together. However, they are only too happy to put the work into it as it brings them joy.
  • Their popularity hasn't changed their relationship with each other despite some negative comments on their post. Instead, they are inspired by the overwhelming positivity of most of their fans.

Students Mackenna and Taylor Patterson-Hall (20), from Ontario, Canada, have gained a remarkable 40 000 followers on TikTok for looking and dressing like musician Ariana Grande.

First posting on the app Musical.ly around five years ago, it didn't take long for the pair to be compared to Ariana.

However, it wasn't until 2019 that Taylor and Mackenna fully embraced the resemblance and started to copy the singer's style, posting their transformation on TikTok. The sisters are big Ariana fans, and both love fashion, so it felt like a natural progression.

The look requires maintenance – the girls apply fake tan throughout the week to match Ariana, and both wear long ponytail extensions to mimic the singer's trademark style.

The sisters have always loved dressing identically, as they are very close, and they like the attention it gets.

The attention has resulted in some brand deals on social media, plus a significant following across various social media platforms.

Unfortunately, not all the attention is positive. The duo has received death threats from devout Ariana Grande fans, who accuse the pair of copying the singer.

Taylor and Mackenna think these comments are ridiculous and insist that there's nothing wrong with styling themselves however they want.

The pair plan to continue recreating Ariana's outfits and style on their social media accounts under the name Pink Sweetener.

"We were fans of Ariana Grande for a really long time, but as we got older, we started really liking her style. People have told us forever that we resemble her, but to this day, we still personally don't think we look like Ariana," says Taylor.

"We chose to start wearing her style as it's similar to our own – we like it just as much as she does."

Despite the work that goes into keeping up their Ariana-inspired looks, the twins have no plans to stop anytime soon – even if they receive negative reactions.

"Since going public with our look, we have gotten more attention. We've worked with several brands, including two of our favourite hair extension brands," says Taylor.

The sisters also share that their relationship hasn't changed since choosing to be inspired by Ariana.

"We've always been super close to each other, and we've always dressed the same – our style has just changed," they say.
