Since the news of upcoming auditions for Lebo Mathosa's biopic The Lebo Mathosa Story, was announced on 27 March 2019, South African’s were in a frenzy about which actress would be best suited to play the role.

Lebo was one of South Africa’s biggest pop stars and it’s only fitting that the casting of her character is a big deal.

BET Africa announced the auditions will be held on Sunday 31 March in Johannesburg, but South African’s have already taken the liberty of nominating who should play the role of the pop icon.

So we asked you on Twitter and this is what you had to say:

An overwhelming majority is vying for Thandy Matlaila, who was popularly known for her role as Lindiwe Ngema on the SABC1 drama series Tshisa. Her TVSA profile lists her as an actress, dancer and choreographer.
