A Finnish study published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology looked at the process of sexual imprinting. No, not like the hot wolves in Twilight - IRL, imprinting is when guys use their mums as a "template" for finding a mate.

Researchers tested 70 adults to see if their partners resembled their opposite sex parent and it turned out that most of the men went for women who had similar facial features to their mums.

A-list dudes are only human and they have trouble moving away from their first leading ladies too. Bradley Cooper - Hollywood's ultimate mama's boy - is a classic example. The Hangover hottie's petite blonde mum Gloria bears more than a passing resemblance to his former flame Renée Zellweger. And Ryan Gosling has inherited an appreciation for brunettes from his mum Donna, as evidenced by his girlfriend, Eva Mendes.
