From the second we set foot in sex-education class at school, we learn everything filed under p for prevention. That is, how to prevent unwanted pregnancy, how to prevent being pressured into sex and how to prevent contracting a sexually transmitted infection (STI). But, dealing with the repercussions of a positive STI result is a very real issue for our generation that not many people are willing to talk about.

So what is it really like having to call up every guy you've slept with to inform them that you've been diagnosed with an STI and that they now need to get checked because they might also be at risk? And what kind of effect does an STI have on your self-esteem on a day-to-day basis? Three women speak candidly to CLEO about how they have dealt with the emotional and physical sides of a positive test result.
