Naomi had an outdoor wedding ceremony and a black tie reception that featured a 2,13m tall cake that was longer than her 1,82m long wedding dress. According to Vogue, the D.C.-based attorneys had to use a ladder for the ceremonial cut-the-cake picture and the eight-tier confection was lemon flavored with buttercream frosting. The wedding also included a dessert bar that had the President’s favourite ice cream. The groom's cake consisted of a 20-inch apple pie.

Naomi’s lemon cake wasn’t the first towering wedding cake to grace the White House. In 1971 President Richard Nixon's daughter, Tricia’s wedding cake was also 2.13m tall and was made with layers of graduated size. Henry Haller, White House executive chef, recalls creating the iconic white cake with fluffy frosting and a fruit and nut filling.
