Learn about the history of Pride in South Africa

Google it. Find a book. Watch a documentary. Learn about hate crimes and all the horrible things done to the LGBT community. Learn who Simon Nkoli is and other LGBTQIA+ activists. Just get learning.

Use your Facebook account to show your pride

Last year Facebook had a cute rainbow reaction for Pride Month, but it didn’t stick around all year. This year is a different story though as Facebook is launching a bunch of new fun stickers, frames, masks, effects, and more to celebrate Pride according to PopSugar.

Watch LGBTQIA+ films and shows

Especially ones with positive, complex depictions of LGBTQIA+ characters. Try the Oscar nominated Call Me By Your Name, the story of a one-weekend stand called Weekend, or ball culture documentary Paris Is Burning. Or try anyone one of these cool shows with great LGBTQIA+ characters from Channel24 or these great LGBTQIA+ series and movies– which include local shows too!
