I'll be fine, I just might need waterproof mascara for a while

What an eventful week it was. I had my own little trolling incident, which I handled by swatting the offenders away.

I say trolls, but they're more like garden gnomes with a bad attitude. Meh. Why do people do that? It must be the reason no one talks about this stuff, it opens you up to a lot of negativity. Luckily I'm made of sturdier stuff.

I had my two week follow-up with the gynaecologist: My operation was massive.

It's funny, you look at these two little scars (which I'm covering with tattoos as soon as I can, sorry mom), and you don't realise the mayhem behind it. Everything was not fixed, I still have a lot of drama coming, and a lot of discomfort, and a weird little tummy.

Good news: We have a six month breather (minimum) before considering hysterectomy. I have to heal properly first, and then we will deal with my messed up insides.

Which also means losing 10kg, and lamenting on here a LOT. You, my one or two readers, are stuck with me for the foreseeable future.

Bad news: The wait for the big H became the diagnosis of the big M. I am officially in menopause,he says after locating my tiny useless ovary in a search equal to the one for Private Ryan. (Side note, we should discuss the internal scan at some stage. I've diarised it).

Now I've made the decision to take hormone replacement therapy. We fondly called it my mom's anti-werewolf medication. The script had to be filled at least a week before it ran out, or the consequences were dire(wolf).

I am taking it. Please don't send me cancer links, I am 31 and taking pills that come in a little wheel, for goodness sake. Don't send me cancer links. Don't. I won't read them while having my purple rinse. I won't.

At this stage I'm still a bit giddy/murderous/crying. I've giggled and cried twice while writing this. At least I appreciate my own humour. Making myself cry? Now that I can live without.

This has given me so much empathy for my mom, who went through the same thing at the same age. It's nice to know I'm not crazy. I'm just special, and I will need waterproof mascara for a while.

So while my story has changed a bit, I foresee a few instalments in this adventure. Stay tuned.
