Egyptian actress Rania Youssef is on trial for wearing a revealing outfit that showed off her legs at a film festival and referring to her derriere on TV.

The case against Youssef, 47, follows a complaint to the chief prosecutor by lawyers Samir Sabry and Amr Abdelsalam, known for taking celebs to court.

The actress attended a film festival in Cairo wearing a saucy see-through outfit that revealed most of her legs.

The Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanors Court started looking into the first hearing of the trial recently. Youssef will take the stand on charges of committing an indecent public act, debauchery and contempt of religion after her call for acquittal was rejected, according to local media.

She is also being held accountable for comments made on TV while being interviewed by presenter Nizar Al-Faris on the show With the Knight on 31 December 2020.

When she was accused of trying to stir up controversy by showing off her curves in sexy dresses, she replied by saying “Maybe my a*se is a little special... not only my a*se. All the stars do the same."

After the episode was aired, Rania received a backlash of criticism. It is unclear when the first hearing of the trial takes place.
