Clare Rawling has invested in vintage dolls and accessories spanning six decades from the 1960s after falling back in love with the iconic figures of beauty and elegance.
She also boasts a brilliant collection of outfits, props and sets which she plays with by arranging them in scenarios and taking pictures for social media.
"I first started collecting Barbies in February this year, it was a result of seeing something online that sparked something inside me about my youth and toys I used to play with. And, as a result of that, somehow I thought it would be a good idea to start collecting the Barbie's I had as a child," says the 40-year-old collector.
She adds, "When I was younger my most prized Barbie would probably be one of the Barbie Benettons and that was something that was really close to my heart because I had the whole range of them, including the Barbie Benetton store as well.
"In terms of how many Barbies I'm looking to collect now, I don't really have a number on it, for me it's about trying to buy back the ones I had as a child and then along the way I'm sure acquiring a lot of other that just look nice.
"I would say the amount of money I have spent on the current collection I have is somewhere between £3 500 and maybe £4 000 (between R69 000 and R79 000)."
Clare says the response from her family has been really supportive and think her collection is "pretty unique".
"My husband has been a major factor in the fact that I've continued collecting and continue to make the videos that I make. And my son, as much as he maybe thinks it's a little bit cringe, I think he's quite impressed by the fact that I've got such a cool collection."
"I think for the future as my collection grows we might have to get an extension on the house," Clare says in between laughs, "but realistically I would love to have a dedicated Barbie room, without a doubt so we'll just have to see what happens with that."
