  • In addition to completing a stylish look alongside a great outfit and memorable hair and makeup, a fragrance is an incredible mood setter.
  • It makes sense why fragrance fiends interchange perfumes for day and night, as well as seasonally.
  • In the spirit of seasonal change, as we anticipate creating our festive memories in style, it's time to switch it up with our fragrances.

Of course, fragrance doesn't serve the exact same purpose for every single person. There's enough space for individual expression.

As ARC Fragrance Consultant Sifiso Mjali explains: "You've got your fragrance fanatics who have got fragrances [for] during the day and night, winter, summer, happy, sad, but for others, they wear fragrances for a signature scent – but there is definitely a distinction [between day and night]."

There's also a distinction between warm and cool weather scents as well.

While trends come and go, the fundamentals of selecting a fragrance for the season remains true.

"Hints for the summer, always wear something happy," says Sifiso.

He adds that people, who tend to their perfumes all year long, may find that they wear something too heavy for the warmer and dryer months.

"You don't want to give people a bad reaction because most people [have allergies]. So always wear something fresh, something light. Probably save your heavily scented fragrances for the clouds," he says.

The top contenders for a summer fragrance, according to Sifiso, are Atelier Versace's Eclat de Rose and the Kayali Déjà Vu White Flower.

The Kayali White Flower "is a delicate floral and it has that powdery undertone to give it that maturity to give it that statement, that personality," says Sifiso.

He adds that the Versace fragrance is "for your Sunday mornings; it's easy, it's relaxed, it's feminine. It's like your yellow dress with flip-flops, a nice breeze".

In line with feminine scents is Gucci's Love Edition for Her. This fragrance has a classic and understated scent, but enough to stop those close enough to catch a whiff in their tracks.

This perfume transitions beautifully from day to night. With its floral, citrus and Ambery notes, this fragrance makes for a good staple perfume to keep in your collection.

Since we've had the experience of spending all our time for months at home, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, among many other things, it is has served as a reminder of the importance or perhaps a re-appreciation of home fragrance. At this point, what fragrance lover hasn't hoarded scented candles or broken the bank account buying home diffusers?

Sorbet Home's Waterfall diffuser is great for introducing a swish of freshness into your living space. With hints of fresh salt and ocean, this mega-sized diffuser is a literal breath of fresh air.
