Adding colour to type 3 and 4 ethnic hair often causes major damage to the hair and the scalp as it will require bleaching the hair before dyeing. It can cause breakage and even loss of hair.
To contribute to the safety of ethnic hair, Nubian Crown Hair Studio, in partnership with L’Oréal Professionals, launched DIA Light and DIA Richesse safe colour for type 3 and 4 ethnic hair. The range helps people with coarse hair to add a bit of colour to their hair without damaging it.

Managing Director of Nubian Crown Hair Studio, Tshireletso Yvonne Diogo, explained that a growing understanding of how styling and hair care can result in various types of alopecia and hair loss has also played a role in the move towards healthy natural hair.
“The beauty industry is still limited in terms of options for colouring natural ethnic hair in a way that does not permanently change the structure of the hair, causing dryness and breakage in the long run," says Tshireletso.
She adds that until now, there have been no options for someone with natural ethnic natural looking to continue on a healthy hair journey while enjoying diverse styling options which include safe colour applications.

“Nubian Crown’s safe colour for naturals is possible through L’Oreal DIA Light which is acid-based demi-permanent colour specifically designed to treat and protect the hair while depositing the colour pigments. A true ammonia-free technology breakthrough,” she continues.
