
Pat McGrath has kicked-off the new year on a high note as she received the honour of damehood, Dame of the British Empire, which is the highest honour from its Queen recognising citizens' service to the country.
In an Instagram post, Pat says the honour is for services to the fashion and beauty industry and diversity.

Teen Vogue reports that with this honour, Pat is being recognised for her work as British Vogue’s Beauty Editor-at-Large, running her makeup empire PAT McGRATH LABS and for other projects she's worked on over the years.
“When I first launched my brand, PAT McGRATH LABS, it was designed to inspire self-expression and individuality. I dedicate this honour in tribute to Makeup Artists everywhere, I adore each and every one of you. Never give up on your dreams - with hard work, creativity and perseverance anything is possible,” she writes following the announcement.
The beauty mogul received overwhelming support from members of the fashion and beauty industry including praise from her fellow countrywoman Naomi Campbell who writes, “Congratulations mother @patmcgrathreal you so deserve!!! YES DAME !!!!”.

Designers Pierpaolo Piccioli, Viktor & Rolf, were among the list of fashion designers who offered their congratulations, as well as Diane von Furstenberg who rights, “Bravo bravo Dame Pat! You deserve it”.
Makeup artist Linda Hay offers her congratulations as well as Dana Oliver, beauty director at Yahoo, who writes: “Congratulations MUVA You’ve worked so hard and inspired so many of us. Damehood, you wear it beautifully”.
According to Vogue magazine, Pat McGrath becomes the first-ever makeup artist to receive his honour.
