Every bride wants to feel good and look perfect on their wedding day. Brides wish for the ideal dress to fit in beautifully but it is not so easy to get to this point of being happy with how a dress fits.
A bride who didn't like how she looked in her dress shared on Facebook, "I got my wedding dress, I love the dress, but I don't love me. How did you all lose weight before your wedding?
"I know we are supposed to be happy with our bodies, but I just can't stop looking at everything I hate about myself in this picture, and I know if I don't change the way I look by my wedding, I'll feel bad about my wedding pictures."
Seasoned floral and wedding designer, Zavion Kotze-Brereton, and founder of I Do Insurance says he has seen his fair share of brides who have told him how they plan on losing a lot of weight before the wedding.
Zavion says, "Although some of the transformations I've seen have been truly inspiring, it's important to remember that your partner fell in love with you and your body, the way you are. I will stake my life on it that, if asked, every single fiancé of a bride would say, "she's perfect in every way.
"Rather than focusing on losing weight or making dramatic changes, the important thing is to do what you need to, to feel confident. Confidence is important. If you have curves, rock them and embrace them. If you don't feel like that is for you, choose a dress style that compliments your body, and remember: comfort is key!
Zavion says dress hunting can be both the best and the most stressful part of planning and preparing for a wedding.
Here are Zavion's five tips to help you find the perfect dress
Have an open mind. I promise you that what you have in mind as the perfect dress usually doesn't work for your body shape. Ask your consultant what they think, and if there are any dresses you should try on. These consultants help thousands of brides, and they will help you too.
Comfort is key. You want to wear an extremely comfortable dress. After being in your dress for 12 hours, you will agree with me. I've had so many brides that wished they chose a dress that was just comfortable.
Dress to your shape. You want to wear something that will accentuate your best aspects - not a style that hides them.
Have someone neutral to shop for dresses with you. Let's face it; it is common practice for everyone in your life to come
dress shopping bridesmaids, sisters, moms, grannies, and everyone in-between, each with an opinion. Sometimes, there are too many opinions, which can cloud your judgment. If you don't go with your comfort and 'that feeling,' you're going to walk out of the shop with a dress you will never be happy with.
Have fun. Don't forget that you have to have fun. Try a dress you wouldn't necessarily try, have a glass of bubbly, dance and jump around in the dress, jump on the dress and enjoy every moment.
