- This year's BRIT Awards took place on 11 May 2021 and welcomed a live audience of 4 000 people at The O2 arena in London.
- The evening was packed with performances from Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Griff, Arlo Parks, Headie One, P!nk & Rag'n'Bone Man and Olivia Rodrigo.
- The red carpet was equally festive with punk, pleats, and playfulness seen on stars including Dua Lipa, Billy Porter, and Celeste.
The BRIT Awards red carpet was an unconventional display of glamour.
This is hardly surprising for a music awards night, where artists allow their stylists to take rewarding risks on them.
Thanks to pandemic 4-wall syndrome, when the stars step out these days, they do so with plenty sartorial intention and a ballsy attitude. And compared to the rest of the awards season, this red carpet was particularly festive.
Because music artists are always on beat, their style tends to be elegantly offbeat, and so punk, pleats, and playfulness characterised the best looks seen at the 2021 BRIT Awards.
We share 15 standout looks that breathed life onto the O2 Arena red carpet:

The 'Rising Star' award winner dazzled in several looks. Between her white-socks-and-mary-janes shoe stamp of the night and her beauty looks, it's hard to decide which we loved the most.
And get this; this was her first-ever Brits appearance. Way to make a debut, right?
Old Hollywood glam is good enough for Brits too.

All about the jewels in Area.
Playful in Look 5 from the Ashley Williams Spring/Summer 2021 collection – a black feathered puff-ball mini with bejewelled straps and a matching headdress, paired with red Roger Vivier heels.
The statement-making star donned a ThreeASFour black satin dress complete with lace sleeves paired with matching black pants. Styled by Ty Hunter, the looks was accessorised by a Stephen Jones fascinator, and Rick Owens boots.
In Gucci, of course.
Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards of Little Mix coordinated in all-white looks. But never mind the white, it's the matching baby bumps that won us over.
This Balmain gown is Oscars and Cannes Film Festival material, but perhaps it's also exactly what we needed at the offbeat BRIT Awards too. It's perfect.
The Haim sisters wearing looks by the Olsen twins' label, The Row.
This shade of blue and these pleats are a pairing as good as bacon, avo, and feta.
