The magazine reports that Gigi owns more than 500 sunglasses and speaking about her collection, she says she has an emotional attachment to them.

Not only are they for sun protection, her affinity for shades began when she had to start facing the paparazzi.

"When the world around me started to get really crazy and I would wake up every day and there were 50 cameras outside my house, my glasses were like my shield.

They make me feel more confident and feel like I can go out and face the world even when I don't want to put makeup on," she said.

Gigi is not the only die-hard celebrity collector - a number of famous personalities have collections that are their pride and joy.

Here is a list of what some of your favourite celebrities enjoy collecting.

Karl Lagerfeld

The late Chanel fashion designer had a gigantic collection of books. He revealed this during his ‘master class’ at the 2015 International festival of fashion and photography, according to Women's Wear Daily.

“Today, I only collect books; there is no room left for something else. If you go to my house, I’ll have you walk around the books. I ended up with a library of 300 000. It’s a lot for an individual,” he said.
