- As a guest on our 'In Her Shoes with W24' podcast, reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, said "It's okay to be scared. It's okay to be fearful. You have to try and push above it," while reassuring that "living fearless is liberating."
- And now, in collaboration with fashion label Mantsho designer Palesa Mokubung, Zozi Tunzi has put a version of that bold message on a T-shirt.
- This collaboration coincides with the launch of 1st for Women’s new fearless campaign that features Miss Universe, and is officially available to shop today, 28 September.
Mantsho, a clothing label that was established by Palesa Mokubung in 2014 has launched an exclusive collaboration with 1st for Women Insurance and Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi to encourage South African women to live fearlessly.
Together, they are both examples of women of firsts - Palesa Mokubung was the first African designer to collaborate with global retail giant H&M, on a limited edition collection in 2019, while Zozi Tunzi became the first black South African to take home the Miss Universe crown in the same year.

This collaboration coincides with the launch of 1st for Women’s fearless campaign that features Zozi, whom they consider "an icon of strength, courage and resilience."
The Tees feature Mantsho’s characteristic and quintessential bold prints symbolising a path of a woman who is ready to deconstruct in order to rebuild and is emblazoned with the word “fearless” - making them a statement T-shirt with a confident edge.
Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of the Tees will be donated to the 1st for Women Foundation to assist in the fight against women abuse.
Palesa reveals that the designs represent "courage coupled with a good dose of colour and charisma."

“The Tees makes a bold statement and serve as a reminder that women have everything they need within them to be who they want to be and do what they want to do. It encourages an attitude of fearlessness. It’s also a statement to the rest of the world that you are a strong woman, who owns who you are and who you want to be,” says the designer.
Zozi adds that the 'fearless' Tees "speak to a strong, inner attitude."
"They serve as a reminder to those who wear them to answer the question – ‘what you would do if you were fearless’?” Being fearless is both a decision and an action. It doesn’t mean living a life devoid of fear, but living a life in which our fears don’t hold us back. It’s the audacity to be unhindered by failure or judgement, and to walk with freedom, strength and hope in the face of things unknown. Wearing this T-shirt will remind women to do just that,” she continues.
