After the beautiful swimwear by the likes of Akina and Lalesso on Day 1, I was ready for some everyday resort wear and fairy tale evening dresses to drool over.

I got all of this and more.

The well-organised event gave us shows filled with opulence, amazing models and inspiring designs with influences from Africa and around the globe.

From classic and urban cool, to the quirky and surreal, we were confronted by new innovations, playful creations and even a few controversial moments.

See the highlights here:

The coolest shows:

Some of it might be difficult for everyday wear, but Norwegian designer EDDA GIMNES lit up the runway in her quirky designs:

Sheila-Madge won the Luthansa 1st Class Winner with her fierce AF collection. We loved all the interesting facial piercings...

Vintage Zionist gave us the 'bad bitch' alter-ego inspiration we all secretly crave...

The most beautiful:

With countless beautiful shows, we especially loved that JJ Schoeman used curvy models to open his show:

We'd love to wear ERRE, especially that olive green bathing suit. Yo!

Sisiano gave us all the pretty dresses of our dreams...

Beautiful rust tones had us swooning at AYA Velase...

Chinese designer brand Chu Yan was whimsical and undoubtedly exquisite:

The most controversial:

Yanela Mtolo show was beautiful, yet it raised a few questions. She said to W24 that: "I was inspired by Xhosa rural women, and the traditional Xhosa attire. However, I didn't want to do costume. So I tried to make the collection look quirky and a bit modern by styling it with second hand items and making the black geometric lines traditional Xhosa attire is synonymous with, by rather using different colours and fabrics."

However, some questioned the fine line between cultural appreciation and appropriation here as the show mostly featured white models.
