- The next adidas x Ivy Park collection is due to drop in a few days.
- This time, it is inspired by the history of black cowboys and cowgirls and features kidswear.
- The collection launches online on Thursday, 19 August, followed by an in-store launch on Friday, 20 August.
Just twenty months since the first adidas x Ivy Park collection dropped in January 2020, Beyoncé is launching the fourth collection, which will be available locally online at midday on Thursday and in-store on Friday.
While the last collection was dubbed Icy Park and contained slope-inspired streetwear, this new collection is a nod to black cowboys and cowgirls' overlooked history and culture. The collection, aptly named Ivy Park Rodeo, ushers in the untold and features athletic wear classics emblazoned with the aesthetic of the black cowboy experience.
Beyoncé is the sole owner of Ivy Park and one of the first black women to be the sole owner of an athleisure brand. Hence her nod to black cowboys and cowgirls comes as no surprise.
Describing the collection, the brand says, "Ivy Park Rodeo is where audacious design meets thoughtfully remixed classic streetwear and athletic wear fused with inspiration from the Black cowboy experience."
The collection features 58 adult apparel styles, 5 adult footwear styles, and 13 different accessories. All images supplied by ByDesign Communications
Highlights from the apparel collection include a denim bodysuit, wide-leg snap pants, a denim tracksuit, a washed French terry hoodie and matching sweatpants, denim chaps, a denim bucket hat, and a small cotton canvas waist bag.
The footwear offering is exciting, mainly because it introduces the new IVP Super Sleek "Chunky" with an exaggerated outsole combined with a classic.
The items in the collection are great, but the introduction of the first-ever kids' collection under Ivy Park is the cherry on this sartorial cake. What's more, all of the Carter kids, Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir, came to the rodeo for their mother's latest campaign video.
This is not the first time Blue Ivy, the second-youngest Grammy winner, has made a cameo for Ivy Park as she was also included in the video for Icy Park earlier this year.
Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, Beyoncé shared that she was natural to include her children in the campaign. "My kids are usually on set with me for shoots, and we'd find ourselves putting them in extra-extra-smalls so we could match. So, it is a natural progression for Ivy Park to introduce a selection of key silhouettes in children's sizing," she shared.
If you are planning to get yourself in line for the collection, it may be helpful to note that clothing sizes range from XXS-4XL / 32-48, with prices for footwear and clothing ranging between R399 and R3 999. Accessories, including unisex hats, unisex bags, a denim bucket hat, a durag, socks, and bandanas, prices range from R649 to R1 599.
The collection launches exclusively on adidas.co.za at 12:00 PM on 19 August, followed by an in-store launch on 20 August.
