I like to stay trendy and up to date with the current fashion but I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes. I always make sure that I set a strict budget and stick to it. I also keep a lookout for specials and discounts. Thrift shops are my go-to shops because the vintage clothes are trendy and they are often not pricey.
I asked how other women stay fashionable without breaking their budget, here's what they said:
I'm someone who's a big fan of fashion and clothes, especially vintage fashion. I'm very big on shopping for less. So, if I see something that I like online or on social media worn by my favourite style icons, I try to shop for it for less. I either thrift it or go to stores like Mr Price, Cotton On when there's a sale, I live in the CBD so I also shop at shops that are near me Small Street, Bree etc. I also go through my mom or granny's closet.
I avoid peer pressure and I buy what I can afford. There are many affordable shops that I can buy from that are very stylish. I do not compare myself with anyone, I stick to what I can afford. I also make strict budgets that I stick to. If something is very expensive, I lay buy and then go pay it off the next month.
I get to dress stylish on a budget by thrifting, the thrift stores have really nice clothes and they are affordable. I also stick to the budget by taking advantage of sales and deals such as buy two for the price of one or buy two and get one free. That is what works for me and keeps me stylish without breaking my budget.
Basically, when I want to buy clothes [that] are on-trend, if it is expensive, I buy one item a month. I check [what] items go well together then next month I'll go get the others and make sure that I don't lose, and I don't go out of budget. That's how I stay fashionable without going off-budget.
I buy at affordable shops like the shops at Small Street and Mr Price; the clothes are the same as those that are bought at very expensive shops. I don't spend much money when I buy at these shops. I know that if I go to the affordable shops, I will not overspend and I will stick to my budget.
