Karl Lagerfeld has famously reiterated that retirement was not on the books for him, ever, and he never did. One can even say that, even beyond the grave, he still hasn’t retired.

It is openly known that the silver-haired fashion giant has basically worked for as long as he could and the fruits of his work keep on coming to the fore.

The latest Karl Lagerfeld project to be revealed after his passing in February 2019 is his partnership with L’Oréal Paris to launch a beauty range.

According to WWD magazine, he began a “rock-chic style, fused with a sense of Parisian elegance” with the beauty brand.

Head of image and communication at the Karl Lagerfeld fashion house, Caroline Lebar, tells WWD; “This line of makeup truly reflects the Karl Lagerfeld brand universe and what Karl loved in makeup.”

WWD reports that the once-off collection will be revealed for online sales on 20 September, and released globally on 27 September during Paris Fashion Week.

But this is not the first Karl Lagerfeld beauty collaboration, and certainly not the first fashion one. As the creative director of Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld has been a celebrated collaborator with many fashion brands outside being the creative lead on these major fashion houses.

From partnering with H&M to Pharrell Williams to Australian beauty brand ModelCo - his collaborations have been many and far-reaching.

Before this L’Oréal collaboration, Karl Lagerfeld worked with Pharrell on a capsule collection under the Chanel label.

In March 2019, Pharrell shared how he came about creating the Chanel Pharrell capsule collection with Karl Lagerfeld, with whom he reportedly had close relationships with.

According to the Parisian fashion house, the collection was “an urban capsule collection highlighting Pharrell Williams’ long-term relationship with the House”.

Posthumously, Karl Lagerfeld maintains his creative footprint in the fashion industry as his life’s work continues to be shared.
