"Plus-size" sportswear now finally entering the mainstream

In total, 44 items are available in plus sizes, including running pants, tops and athletic leisure apparel, according to website Buzzfeed. The fashions are available in sizes from 1X to 3X, and the Pro Rival and Hero bra sizes have been pushed up to 38E.

The company said: “Nike recognises that women are stronger, bolder and more outspoken than before. In today’s world, sport is no longer something that she does, it’s who she is. The days where we have to add the word ‘female’ before the word ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape."
