
A survey of 2 000 Americans say reveals tht the answer is Levi's 501 jeans.
The study that was conducted via one poll on behalf of online luxury fashion retail platform, Farfetch says that another Levi Strauss item - the 60s defining jean jacket landed in second place.
Other fashion staples that made the list include Converse Chuck Taylors and and Ray-Ban Wayfarers.
When shopping, 62 percent of people in the U.S. say they prefer to have a smaller number of quality pieces than tons of cheap clothes that wear out fast. The average person surveyed spends nearly four hours in vintage or charity shops per month.
The Farfetch study also found that 7 in 10 people surveyed would wear any of the trends that made the most iconic fashion list, which includes everything from the Fendi baguette bag to the classic Von Dutch trucker hat.
