I realised from a young age stokvels are a great way to get into the habit of saving and I made the decision to join one of my mother's stokvels four years ago. 

When I started working, I realised I would misuse my salary on unnecessary items such as impulsive shopping and lunch dates, so I decided to join two stokvels: a savings stokvel and a property one.
