04 Nov 2019

So, in America's Lone Star State, Formula 1's biggest and brightest has become World Champion for the sixth time. Next up, Schumacher. Nevertheless, the title fight may be won but the season rolls on for two more races. Next up, the circus heads down the Americas to the city of Sao Paulo, where Hamilton claimed his first title all those years ago. There, Leclerc, Verstappen and Vettel will continue their fight for P3 in the championship, Albon will look to secure P6 and the various midfield battles will start to be won and lost. Sound good? Great. See you there!

04 Nov 2019

Sebastian Vettel goes to the cool down room to congratulate Hamilton. A great touch from the German, even if it may hurt a little deep down to see his rival move further ahead of him.

04 Nov 2019

The full finishing order: P1 Bottas, P2 Hamilton, P3 Verstappen, P4 Leclerc, P5 Albon, P6 Ricciardo, P7 Norris, P8 Sainz, P9 Hulkenberg, P10 Perez, P11 Raikkonen, P12 Kvyat, P13 Stroll, P14 Giovinazzi, P15 Grosjean, P16 Gasly, P17 Russell, P18 Magnussen (RET), P19 Kubica (RET), P20 Vettel (RET).

04 Nov 2019

The stewards have now announced that Kvyat has been given a five second time penalty for his pass on Perez, dropping him down to P12 and Perez back into the points. Gasly meanwhile also seemingly hit Perez and ended up down in P16. Not the best day for Toro Rosso...

04 Nov 2019

Sainz finishes P8, Hulkenberg P9 and Kvyat P10. It looks like the Russian may have been involved in yet another final lap incident, this time with Perez, who was in P9 himself at the start of the final lap but finished in P11... Gutting for the Mexican, who had driven such a great race.

04 Nov 2019

Albon takes yet another top six finish to move into those very places in the standings. Ricciardo meanwhile drove an excellent race to take P6 ahead of Norris.

04 Nov 2019

Leclerc will be glad to cross the line and bring an end to a poor day for him and his team. P4 for the Monegasque.

04 Nov 2019

Lewis Hamilton holds off Verstappen to take P2 and his sixth World Championship!

04 Nov 2019

Bottas wins the United States Grand Prix! More importantly though...

04 Nov 2019

Final lap...

04 Nov 2019

Magnussen out! That brings out double yellows which Hamilton will be grateful for.

04 Nov 2019

Verstappen in DRS range now. Two laps to go.

04 Nov 2019

Perez dives down the inside of Gasly to take P9. Surely he'll get Driver of the Day?

04 Nov 2019

Right then, Verstappen is just over three seconds off Hamilton with four laps to go.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas makes the pass stick this time to take the lead of the race!

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton forces Bottas off when the Finn tries to pass him with DRS!

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton really is rather good at managing his tyres isn't he?

04 Nov 2019

Bottas within DRS range...

04 Nov 2019

Albon takes P5 from Ricciardo.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas less than a second behind Hamilton now.

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton's pace at the moment is comfortably quick enough for him to finish the race ahead of Verstappen, unless his tyres drop off rapidly.

04 Nov 2019

Hulkenberg has to give P11 back to Kimi. Albon meanwhile passes Sainz to move up to P6.

04 Nov 2019

Leclerc sets the fastest lap and new lap record.

04 Nov 2019

The best racing of the day comes courtesy of Hulkenberg and Raikkonen who go through multiple corners side by side with the German prevailing. He may have gone off track though.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas and Verstappen have both been held up by back-markers quite considerably in the last few laps.

04 Nov 2019

Leclerc pits for softs and comes out in a lonely P4, where he's been all day.

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton and his team agree that they may have to bring him in again, which would give us an on-track fight between him and Verstappen for P2. Yes please.

04 Nov 2019

Albon pits for soft tyres and comes out in P10.

04 Nov 2019

What a terrible day it's been for Ferrari. Not only did Vettel retire, but Leclerc's pace has been way, way off. He's currently 20 seconds behind Verstappen.

04 Nov 2019

At his current pace, Verstappen too should catch and pass Hamilton before the end of the race.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas sets a new lap record and is just five seconds behind Hamilton now. The win is his for the taking.

04 Nov 2019

Albon has recovered well after his first lap damage and has just passed Ricciardo for P5.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas sticks on mediums too and comes out 6.5 seconds ahead of Verstappen. He's just under ten seconds behind Hamilton and has 20 laps to catch him.

04 Nov 2019

Tyre degradation today has been much, much worse than Pirelli expected, as shown by the fact that Red Bull didn't think softs would make it to the end.

04 Nov 2019

Verstappen pits! The Dutchman puts on the medium compound. Presumably Bottas will pit soon to cover off the undercut.

04 Nov 2019

Robert Kubica is the second DNF of the day as he pulls in to the pits to retire.

04 Nov 2019

If Hamilton's tyres wear as much as Verstappen's, he'll have some seriously dead rubber by the end of the race.

04 Nov 2019

Verstappen looks to be struggling with his tyres now. Expect him to come in and pit any lap now.

04 Nov 2019

Great stuff from the Racing Point drivers as they both pass Kvyat to move into P11 and P12. Stroll, the first of them, then comes in for his second stop.

04 Nov 2019

Unsurprisingly, he pits for medium tyres. He'll try to go to the end on them.

04 Nov 2019

Hulkenberg now loses out to Albon and Gasly. The German has no grip at the moment.

04 Nov 2019

Sainz passes Hulkenberg to move up to P7. It's quite the battle between McLaren and Renault today.

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton is told he has to take his tyres to the end of the race and that things will be close with Verstappen.

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton now pits for the hard tyre.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas isn't fussed though and easily passes Hamilton on track instead.

04 Nov 2019

Just as Bottas catches him, Hamilton is told to pit, but says he wants to stay out for longer. His team won't like that.

04 Nov 2019

Leclerc passes Hulkenberg, who has yet to pit, to move back up to P4.

04 Nov 2019

Leclerc comes in and is stationary for 7.7 seconds, a terrible stop. He goes on to hard tyres. It looks like the pit-crew couldn't get the left rear on tight enough.

04 Nov 2019

Norris pits and comes out in P10 ahead of Sainz and behind Albon. Both Mclarens are on hards.

04 Nov 2019

Going by Pirelli's calculations, Hamilton and Leclerc will have to get to around Lap 35 on their current tyres if they want to go onto softs and do a one-stop.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas has now pulled away from Verstappen by nearly six seconds.

04 Nov 2019

The midfield runners are streaming into the pits now. Sainz and Magnussen come out in P13 and P17 respectively.

04 Nov 2019

The returning Bono tells Hamilton that they believe every other car is on a two-stop race. Does that mean he'll go for a one-stop? It's beginning to look a lot like Mexico here...

04 Nov 2019

Verstappen passes Leclerc in the DRS zone to continue his pursuit of Bottas.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas sweeps past Leclerc at Turn 1 comfortably. Meanwhile, Verstappen has gone purple...

04 Nov 2019

Red Bull tell Verstappen to be sensible...

04 Nov 2019

Bottas pits to cover the undercut. He too goes onto hards and comes out between Leclerc and Verstappen who's gained on him considerably.

04 Nov 2019

Verstappen dives into the pits before Hamilton can pass him and goes onto the hard tyre! Will Red Bull still be trying the one-stop?

04 Nov 2019

Leclerc is told by his team to avoid the sausage curb at Turn 8 that took his team-mate out...

04 Nov 2019

Perez has enjoyed a good start to the race after starting from the pit-lane. He's just passed Giovinazzi to move up to P14.

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton now gaining on Verstappen and is almost in DRS range...

04 Nov 2019

While that was happening, Ricciardo passed Norris to move up to P5.

04 Nov 2019

He parked his car in a convenient place for the stewards, so no Safety Car.

04 Nov 2019

Broken suspension for Vettel! The bumps looks to have finally taken their toll on a car this weekend as the rear of his car is thrown up. He's out of the race.

04 Nov 2019

Ferrari tell Leclerc that they're thinking of switching to plan B. Presumably that's a two-stop race...

04 Nov 2019

Vettel isn't even lapping much quicker than the two midfield runners in front of him. Leclerc doesn't look great either.

04 Nov 2019

Bottas looks comfortably at the front and has a 1.4 second lead over Verstappen. The same gap separates the Dutchman and Hamilton.

04 Nov 2019

All of that carnage means Norris and Ricciardo are running in P5 and P6 respectively.

04 Nov 2019

Albon and Sainz touched at Turn 1 and the Red bull driver came off worse, having to pit for repairs. He put on medium tyres and came out last.

04 Nov 2019

Ricciardo the next to pass Vettel as the German reports that he has damage on the radio. He's not sure where he picked it up, but there's definitely something wrong with the car.

04 Nov 2019

Hamilton passes Vettel who then loses out to Leclerc and tries to take the position back. He can't do so and is then passed by Norris! A shocking start for the German.

04 Nov 2019

And we're off! Bottas has a great start and holds the lead easily! Vettel though bogs down and loses out to Verstappen at Turn 1!

04 Nov 2019

The formation lap is underway...

04 Nov 2019

Five minutes until lights out.

04 Nov 2019

Horner: "There was a hairline crack on the wing, we changed it as a precaution, it's all done and dusted now."

04 Nov 2019

Windy conditions and a bumpy track, the perfect conditions for some nice and close wheel to wheel racing.

04 Nov 2019

Norris: "It's gonna be a tough one, the wind is going to make our lives much trickier so it won't be as straightforward as yesterday."

04 Nov 2019

Red Bull are currently replacing the rear wing of Max Verstappen's car. No biggie though according to the Dutchman.

04 Nov 2019

We're currently experiencing an, er, interesting rendition of the American national anthem.

04 Nov 2019

After the strategy battle last time out in Mexico City, things look set more tame in the pits today, with Pirelli confident that a one-stop race featuring the soft and medium compounds is the quickest option.

04 Nov 2019

After arctic conditions at the start of the weekend, things have since warmed up and it's a toasty 21'C for the race today.

04 Nov 2019

The pit-lane is open and the cars are making their way to the grid.

04 Nov 2019

Turn 1 is always absolutely crucial here, so we should be in for a thrilling start. Vettel and Leclerc have the highest straight line speed while Verstappen may well pick up a nice old tow from Bottas to get himself in the mix, so it'll be a tall ask for Bottas to hold onto his lead from the off.

04 Nov 2019

So, as I'm sure you all know, Hamilton can win the championship today? How? Well, to put things simply, he'll win it regardless of where he finishes if Bottas fails to win the race. If the Finn does so, Hamilton will have to finish a P8 or higher, or take P9 and the fastest lap. So basically, get the champagne ready if you're a fan of his.

04 Nov 2019

The full starting grid: P1 Bottas, P2 Vettel, P3 Verstappen, P4 Leclerc, P5 Hamilton, P6 Albon, P7 Sainz, P8 Norris, P9 Ricciardo, P10 Gasly, P11 Hulkenberg, P12 Magnussen, P13 Kvyat, P14 Stroll, P15 Grosjean, P16 Giovinazzi, P17 Raikkonen, P18 Russell, P19 Kubica, P20 Perez (pit-lane).

04 Nov 2019

Rounding out the top ten are two former Red Bull drivers, with Daniel Ricciardo just ahead of Pierre Gasly.

04 Nov 2019

Alex Albon is the only driver in the top six to start on the quicker, softer tyre, so expect him to put some pressure on Hamilton at the start. Behind him and the McLarens of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris, who will be hoping for better race pace than last time out in Mexico.

04 Nov 2019

Charles Leclerc wasn't exactly miles away either, lapping just 0.108 seconds slower than Bottas. He starts in P4, ahead of Lewis Hamilton who endured a disappointing Q3. Still, given he needs just four points to secure his sixth championship, I doubt he'll be too fussed.

04 Nov 2019

After yesterday's qualifying, there's really no clear favourite for today's race. Valtteri Bottas took pole position, with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen both less than a tenth slower than the Finn.

04 Nov 2019

Howdy y'all, and welcome to the Lone Star State for live coverage of the Austin Grand Prix! Things get underway in just over an hour, and I really hope you're reading this in a thick Texas accent.

03 Nov 2019

Q1 is done and Giovinazzi, Raikkonen, Russell, Perez and Kubica are out. Norris tops it. No, really.

03 Nov 2019

Raikkonen and Giovinazzi improve but are quickly pushed back into the drop zone by Gasly.

03 Nov 2019

Norris goes top. The track is speeding up.

03 Nov 2019

Everyone heading into the pits to prepare for their final run.

03 Nov 2019

Five minutes to go, and the drop zone consists of Raikkonen, Giovinazzi, Perez, Russell and Kubica.

03 Nov 2019

The Dane goes straight up to P10. Given what happened last week, Haas will be chuffed if they can get to Q2 here on home turf.

03 Nov 2019

Magnussen the only driver yet to set a time.

03 Nov 2019

Bottas and Vettel are the last of the big boys to do a lap and go P3 and P4.

03 Nov 2019

Verstappen puts Red Bull back on top before Hamilton betters it with a 1:33.454.

03 Nov 2019

Sainz goes less than a tenth quicker than the Red Bull driver to go top with a 1:33.9.

03 Nov 2019

Norris goes top briefly before his time is bettered by Albon.

03 Nov 2019

Gasly goes just a couple of tenths slower than Leclerc. A good effort from the Toro Rosso man.

03 Nov 2019

Raikkonen goes eight tenths slower than the man who replaced him at Ferrari.

03 Nov 2019

Leclerc is out early and does a 1:34.696.

03 Nov 2019

The Williams boys are the first to set times. Unsurprisingly, Russell is quicker.

03 Nov 2019

The sky is sunny, the track is bumpy and the lights are green. Q1 is underway.

03 Nov 2019

We've seen cars exceed track limits countless times so far this weekend. If they do so in qualifying, their lap time will be deleted, so yeah, however bumpy it may be, stay on the tarmac boys.

03 Nov 2019

No driver has ever won here after starting from any further back than the second row of the grid, so it's fair to say it's going to be a pretty darn important hour. Lewis Hamilton needs just four points to secure his sixth title, so could go a long way to getting it with a strong performance now.

03 Nov 2019

Charles Leclerc provided the big drama in FP3, with his engine blowing up on his installation lap. Ferrari have solved the issue without being handed a penalty, but his lack of running around the track today isn't ideal for him.

03 Nov 2019

Outside of the top three, McLaren look set to yet again be the best of rest. Lando Norris finished FP3 in the dizzy heights of P3, while Carlos Sainz was in P7. As for the pecking order between them and Williams? Your guess is as good as mine.

03 Nov 2019

If this weekend's practice sessions are anything to go by, it could be a close fight for pole here. Max Verstappen topped FP1 and FP3, with Lewis Hamilton topping FP2 but struggling in the other sessions and Ferrari making the top three in all of them. There is one certain German team that often refrain from showing their hand until the business end of the weekend, though... Let's hope Ferrari and Red Bull have another in the tank to fight them.

03 Nov 2019

So, the five out are Hulkenberg, Magnussen, Kvyat, Stroll and Grosjean.

03 Nov 2019

Leclerc and Vettel went P1 and P2 respectively at the end of the session, both on the medium tyre.

03 Nov 2019

Grosjean too is out, but Hulkenberg and Ricciardo both improve, with the former being the one to miss out on Q3.

03 Nov 2019

Stroll fails to improve and is out.

03 Nov 2019

Ferrari aren't completely safe and may have to do laps on the soft tyre.

03 Nov 2019

All quiet on track now.

03 Nov 2019

Kvyat, Ricciardo, Stroll, Hulkenberg and Grosjean in the drop zone.

03 Nov 2019

Albon goes top with a 1:32.898 and Verstappen P3, two tenths slower.

03 Nov 2019

Sainz goes P5. Somewhat surprisingly, he and Norris haven't tried to get through on the mediums.

03 Nov 2019

Hamilton kicks things off with a 1:33.045. Bottas, Leclerc and Vettel all go just over a tenth slower.

03 Nov 2019

Verstappen too opts for the medium, while Albon is running softs.

03 Nov 2019

Mercedes and Ferrari are both out on the medium tyre, suggesting they both plan to start the race on that compound.

03 Nov 2019

Q2 has begun.

03 Nov 2019

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that there's nothing between the top five drivers. Happily, that should make the race great fun. Hamilton will surely secure his sixth title, but has spoken of his desire to do it in style; suddenly, that seems a tall ask for him. Can he battle his way past the top four to do it? Can Vettel find a way past the flying Finn to get the upper hand on Leclerc in their inter-team battle? Can Verstappen banish the demons he carried across the border and take a win he probably should have got there. Join us tomorrow from 12:00 local time to find out. It could be a cracker.

03 Nov 2019

The complete grid for tomorrow: P1 Bottas, P2 Vettel, P3 Verstappen, P4 Leclerc, P5 Hamilton, P6 Albon, P7 Sainz, P8 Norris, P9 Ricciardo, P10 Gasly, P11 Hulkenberg, P12 Magnussen, P13 Kvyat, P14 Stroll, P15 Grosjean, P16 Giovinazzi, P17 Raikkonen, P18 Russell, P19 Kubica, P20 Perez (pit-lane).

03 Nov 2019

Crikey, that was a close one wasn't it? Vettel and Verstappen were 0.012 and 0.067 slower than Bottas respectively.

03 Nov 2019

Ricciardo takes P9 and Gasly completes the top ten, just a tenth slower.

03 Nov 2019

Albon will start P6 ahead of the McLarens of Sainz and Norris.

03 Nov 2019

Hamilton makes a mistake and has to abort his lap, meaning pole position goes to Bottas!

03 Nov 2019

Verstappen, Vettel and Leclerc all fail to beat Bottas's time...

03 Nov 2019

Verstappen the first of the leaders out.

03 Nov 2019

Ricciardo splits the McLarens with his first time to take P8.

03 Nov 2019

Unsurprisingly, Sainz and Norris are P7 and P8, Gasly is in P9 and Ricciardo has yet to set a time.

03 Nov 2019

Verstappen +0.162, Leclerc +0.198, Hamilton +0.292, Albon +0.519.

03 Nov 2019

So, Bottas leads after the first round of laps with a 1:32.029. Vettel is just 0.012 second slower!

03 Nov 2019

Albon goes P6, half a second off Bottas.

03 Nov 2019

A poor lap for Hamilton who goes two tenths slower than Bottas and is also behind Vettel, Verstappen and Leclerc.

03 Nov 2019

Gasly kicks things off with a 1:34.2 before Sainz does a 1:32.847.

03 Nov 2019

Everyone except Ricciardo out on track.

03 Nov 2019

Right then, crunch time. The fight for pole position is underway.

01 Nov 2019

A session where Ferrari probably didn't show their hand, and Mercedes certainly didn't. Nonetheless, Verstappen will be delighted to have started the race weekend by topping FP1. Join us for the second practice session when we will see if he can keep it up.

01 Nov 2019

P11 Kvyat, P12 Sainz, P13 Raikkonen, P14 Perez, P15 Giovinazzi, P16 Hulkenberg, P17 Bottas, P18 Norris, P19 Kubica and P20 Latifi.

01 Nov 2019

P4 Gasly, P5 Ricciardo, P6 Grosjean, P7 Leclerc, P8 Hamilton, P9 Stroll and P10 Magnussen completes the top 10.

01 Nov 2019

The chequered flag is out. Verstappen tops FP1 here in Austin ahead of Vettel by 0.169s. Albon is another tenth back in P3.

01 Nov 2019

Hamilton improves to P4 but his lap gets chalked off, back down to P18 he goes.

01 Nov 2019

Verstappen oversteers and has a big moment at Turn 19, just keeping the Red Bull in a straight line. It's almost mocking when the FIA delete that time for track limits.

01 Nov 2019

Meanwhile look up blocking in a dictionary and you will find how Magnussen just held up Sergio Perez through the sweeping turns. Unsurprisingly Perez isn't happy.

01 Nov 2019

A gearbox change will be required on George Russell's FW42 before he heads out for FP2. It was an old gearbox that Latifi was running when it went bang so there should be no penalties involved.

01 Nov 2019

Bottas is onto the softs now, but he can only manage P14. Surely the sandbags will be ditched soon.

01 Nov 2019

Albon improves to P3, but his time is 0.26s down on Verstappen. That was the fastest final sector of the session so far from the Anglo-Thai driver though.

01 Nov 2019

Leclerc had gone P2 but his time is deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn 19. Magnussen also gets his time deleted for the second time in FP1 for the same offence.

01 Nov 2019

Ricciardo sets a 1:35.2 on the softs to go P2, but another man on a mission is his former team-mate Verstappen. The Red Bull man goes P1, 0.169 clear of Vettel.

01 Nov 2019

Bottas and Hamilton are still touring the circuit on those 2020 prototype tyres. With 25 mins to go they will likely have a go at Vettel's time in the closing stages of this session.

01 Nov 2019

A good session for Racing Point's Lance Stroll so far, he's up in P5.

01 Nov 2019

Bottas pushes a little too hard on those test tyres and goes for a slide, correcting his W10 just in time.

01 Nov 2019

Leclerc goes for a trip over the grass at Turn 9, perhaps caught out by the huge bump in the track around there? Thankfully he avoids what could have been a nasty incident.

01 Nov 2019

Now we are in business. Vettel sets a 1:34.2 to go a second clear of the field on the soft tyres.

01 Nov 2019

Leclerc finally puts himself onto the timings - P5 he goes on the 2020 prototype tyre.

01 Nov 2019

Vettel is onto the medium compound and goes P1, but he is quickly displaced by Verstappen.

01 Nov 2019

Latifi has pulled up at Turn 7. He manages to get going again but does rather obstruct Verstappen. "Don't know what happened there. The car just went into neutral," says the Canadian over team radio. He's crawling back to the pits.

01 Nov 2019

Verstappen is onto the medium tyres and thinks he has gone P1, but like his team-mate he went very wide at Turn 19 and that lap is also deleted.

01 Nov 2019

McLaren are fitting a new floor to Carlos Sainz's MCL34. Both he and team-mate Lando Norris are yet to set times.

01 Nov 2019

Nicholas Latifi, taking over from George Russell at Williams in FP1, is out there on the softs getting to grips with the circuit.

01 Nov 2019

Albon sees a lap deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn 19.

01 Nov 2019

Mercedes and Ferrari are testing the prototype tyres at the moment. Albon meanwhile improves to a 1:35.7 on the medium compound, Verstappen goes P2, seven tenths down on the test tyres.

01 Nov 2019

Albon is starting to crank up the pace a little with a 1:37.2 on the mediums.

01 Nov 2019

To say the track is bumpy would be an understatement. Both the main and back straights and the pit exit are bouncing the cars all over the place.

01 Nov 2019

Romain Grosjean is the first man into the 1:37's. Haas one and two, savour that while it lasts.

01 Nov 2019

Kevin Magnussen is up to P1 on the medium compound. How Haas would love a strong showing at their home race, but 2019 so far doesn't offer much hope.

01 Nov 2019

A 1:38.4 from Verstappen as he goes fastest on the prototype tyres.

01 Nov 2019

A 1:39.8 from Bottas on the mediums kicks us off for the session.

01 Nov 2019

FP1 is underway. Track temp is only 15c! This could lead to a few problems warming up the tyres.

01 Nov 2019

Pirelli and the teams are also testing out a new prototype C4 tyre for next season in this session.

01 Nov 2019

Just a few minutes now until the first session of the race weekend gets underway at a sunny but chilly Austin.

01 Nov 2019

Behind McLaren we have Renault, Toro Rosso and Racing Point who are separated by only nine points. FP1 will give us our first look at who has the edge in that battle which will surely rage on until the end of the season.

01 Nov 2019

Behind the top three that midfield battle is far from over. McLaren continue to lead the way but must bounce back from a disastrous Mexican GP. Will they be the clear 'best of the rest' in FP1?

01 Nov 2019

Red Bull will be hoping that the return of 'Mad Max' was just a one-off appearance in Mexico. Expect a busy FP1 for both Verstappen and team-mate Alex Albon as they look to offer some sort of challenge to Mercedes and Ferrari this weekend.

01 Nov 2019

The Circuit of the Americas should be another track that plays to Ferrari's straight-line speed, but will they show their hand as early as FP1?

01 Nov 2019

For his team-mate Valtteri Bottas it's also quite simple - he must win the United States Grand Prix to send the title fight to Brazil.

01 Nov 2019

Four points or more in Austin will see Hamilton claim a sixth World Championship - he will look to kick his weekend off with a strong showing in FP1.

01 Nov 2019

Welcome to the Circuit of the Americas, home of the United States GP and - perhaps - the venue for Lewis Hamilton's sixth World title celebration. All times are local.

02 Nov 2019

Well, at the end of day one in Austin there doesn't look to be a huge amount between the top teams, with Hamilton and Mercedes looking strongest, but not by much. We'll surely found out more tomorrow in the final practice session before qualifying. FP3 starts at 13:00 local time, join us then. Cheers!

02 Nov 2019

The complete order for FP2: P1 Hamilton, P2 Leclerc, P3 Verstappen, P4 Vettel, P5 Bottas, P6 Albon, P7 Gasly, P8 Sainz, P9 Stroll, P10 Giovinazzi, P11 Ricciardo, P12 Kvyat, P13 Hulkenberg, P14 Norris, P15 Perez, P16 Raikkonen, P17 Magnussen, P18 Grosjean, P19 Russell, P20 Kubica.

02 Nov 2019

The chequered flag is waving and the session is over, with Hamilton topping it ahead of Leclerc and Verstappen.

02 Nov 2019

Sainz and Stroll just came inches away from crashing into each other as the Spaniard turned in on the Canadian.

02 Nov 2019

Two minutes to go.

02 Nov 2019

Interestingly, Max Verstappen has averaged the best pace on the soft tyre.

02 Nov 2019

Leclerc reporting on the radio that he doesn't feel he can match Hamilton's pace.

02 Nov 2019

Another spin! This time courtesy of Daniil Kvyat who loses control at Turn 17.

02 Nov 2019

As I say that, Vettel loses the rear-end at Turn 14 and spins.

02 Nov 2019

Vettel and Hamilton both have times chalked off for exceeding track limits. Get used to that this weekend, it's gonna happen a lot.

02 Nov 2019

Raikkonen has made his soft tyres last 15 laps and is now heading in. Tyre degradation looks to be less of an issue here than last week.

02 Nov 2019

Just like the top six has a familiar look to it, so too does the bottom four, with Williams and Haas again occupying those dreaded places.

02 Nov 2019

Just over half an hour to go now, and most cars are moving on to race simulations, so don't expect to see too many more quick times.

02 Nov 2019

Hamilton, again receiving a huge tow on the straight, goes top with a 1:33.232.

02 Nov 2019

Albon goes out to do a flying lap but goes wide, outside of track limits, and will have his time deleted. No such problem for the other Red Bull though as Verstappen goes P3 with a 1:33.547.

02 Nov 2019

The Briton, making the most of a tow in sector two, goes three tenths up on Leclerc to take P1.

02 Nov 2019

Most drivers are now doing qualifying simulations, so the times are dropping rapidly. Hamilton the next to start a flying lap.

02 Nov 2019

Leclerc, still on mediums, goes top with a 1:33.533. Encouraging signs for Ferrari in this session.

02 Nov 2019

He does, but not for long, as Vettel, always on the softs, does a 1:33.890 to go just under two tenths quicker.

02 Nov 2019

Bottas is now running the softs too and will be doing a qualifying sim. Expect him to go purple.

02 Nov 2019

Kevin Magnussen is the first to stick on the soft tyre and goes from P18 to P8.

02 Nov 2019

Hamilton now goes P2, still on the hard tyre. He's looking rather good here.

02 Nov 2019

Antonio Giovinazzi has gone off at Turn 9, bringing out yellows in sectors 1 and 2, but the Italian gets away unscathed.

02 Nov 2019

Vettel now does 1:35.232, pushing him up to P5.

02 Nov 2019

Hamilton too is running the hard tyre and has just gone P3 with his first time.

02 Nov 2019

Vettel is currently out on the hard tyres and has just gone P8 with a 1:36.1.

02 Nov 2019

Verstappen goes P2, just under three tenths down on Leclerc.

02 Nov 2019

The session is back underway.

02 Nov 2019

Well, with no on-track action let's go through to top five: P1 Leclerc, P2 Bottas +0.366, P3 Albon +0.669, P4 Grosjean +1.047, P5 +1.653. All on the medium tyre.

02 Nov 2019

Grosjean brings out the red flag after destroying his front-wing and suspension spinning into the barriers. He's out of the session.

02 Nov 2019

Leclerc takes us into the 1:34s with a 1:34.742.

02 Nov 2019

Grosjean briefly goes top before Albon and then Bottas go comfortably quicker. The Finn did a 1:35.108.

02 Nov 2019

Geez, this really is a bumpy track, isn't it? Cars a bopping up and down more than Haas's pace this season.

02 Nov 2019

Albon sets the first time of the session, a 1:36.949.

02 Nov 2019

FP2 is underway.

02 Nov 2019

Expect the Silver Arrows to shoot to the top of the timing sheet in the next few hours. They only ran a few laps of the soft tyres in FP1, electing to instead focus on trying out the 2020 tyres. Even so, Hamilton still went quickest, but his time was deleted as he exceeded track limits. Just over five minutes until green lights.

02 Nov 2019

In case you couldn't tell from all of the images of drivers in puffer jackets and beanie hats, it was pretty bloody cold for FP1 this morning, but mercifully, the Lone Star State has warmed up since, with temperatures currently at a bearable 16'C.

02 Nov 2019

Haas enjoyed a strong first session at their home race, with Romain Grosjean in P6 and Kevin Magnussen in P10. Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll completed the top ten.

02 Nov 2019

Alex Albon finished in P3, ahead of the man he replaced at Red Bull, Pierre Gasly, while Daniel Ricciardo completed an all Red Bull academy top five.

02 Nov 2019

Max Verstappen responded to the many criticisms he's received in the past week by topping FP1, going just over a tenth quicker than Sebastian Vettel. The rest of the top five, however, was a bit strange...

02 Nov 2019

Hello and welcome back to a cold, crisp Austin, Texas for the second practice session. Live timing from 1500 local time.

With qualifying underway in two hours, it's still unclear who's quickest. Verstappen has topped two of the three practice sessions, while Vettel has been in the top three in each of them. Both red Bull and Ferrari look like they handle the bumps better than Mercedes, but don't be surprised if the German team whip out party mode. In the meantime, keep an eye on the Planet F1 website to find out whether Leclerc will pick up a penalty following his engine failure. Cheers!

02 Nov 2019

The full FP3 result: P1 Verstappen, P2 Vettel, P3 Norris, P4 Bottas, P5 Hamilton, P6 Albon, P7 Sainz, P8 Raikkonen, P9 Gasly, P10 Ricciardo, P11 Hulkenberg, P12 Stroll, P13 Grosjean, P14 Kvyat, P15 Magnussen, P16 Giovinazzi, P17 Russell, P18 Kubica, P19 Perez, P20 Leclerc (no time)

02 Nov 2019

Bottas and Hamilton finish in P4 and P5, but expect them to be much, much quicker in a few hours. Alex Albon completes the top six.

02 Nov 2019

That's that for FP3. Max Verstappen tops it, two tenths clear of Vettel, with Norris completing the top three.

02 Nov 2019

The fact that Norris is sat in P3 suggests that the big teams, particularly Mercedes, have yet to show their hand. Mercedes sandbagging? Surely not...

02 Nov 2019

Five minutes to go.

02 Nov 2019

The times continue to tumble, as Verstappen does a 1:33.305 to take back top spot.

02 Nov 2019

Lando Norris goes P3 with a 1:33.818. Not bad kid.

02 Nov 2019

Raikkonen goes P5, ahead of Albon and just under a second off Vettel in his Alfa Romeo. The Ferrari engine seems to like this place. Well, apart from Leclerc's of course.

02 Nov 2019

A 1:33.523 from Vettel puts him top, while Verstappen also improves to go just under a tenth slower.

02 Nov 2019

Grosjean improves to go P6, just ahead of Hulkenberg.

02 Nov 2019

15 minutes left of the session.

02 Nov 2019

With Haas currently in P9 and P12, do the home crowd have cause to be optimistic for qualifying? Probably not, but hey, it's progress.

02 Nov 2019

Bottas takes us into the 1:33s to go top, just under three tenths quicker than Verstappen.

02 Nov 2019

Albon jumps up to P4, splitting the Mercedes boys. A good first half of the session for Red Bull.

02 Nov 2019

His teammate meanwhile goes a second slower on his first flying lap to go P5.

02 Nov 2019

Verstappen puts in a very decent lap indeed to go top. He set a 1:34.186.

02 Nov 2019

Vettel has his time deleted for exceeding track limits.

02 Nov 2019

The Dutchman, on fresh softs, does a 1:34.458 to go P2, just behind Vettel who improved by a tenth.

02 Nov 2019

Max Verstappen on his first flying lap...

02 Nov 2019

Vettel goes purple with a 1:34.441.

02 Nov 2019

Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris are both running the medium tyre and are currently P4 and P6, separated by Kevin Magnussen.

02 Nov 2019

It's a 1:34.558 for Bottas which puts him comfortably top.

02 Nov 2019

Hamilton quickly does his own time and goes just 0.34 slower, also on softs.

02 Nov 2019

Sebastian Vettel sets the first relatively quick time, going top with a 1:34.733 on the soft tyre.

02 Nov 2019

You ever accidentally put your keys in the washing machine? that's what Leclerc's engine sounded like just before he pulled over.

02 Nov 2019

Charles Leclerc is out of the session! The Ferrari man reported an engine problem and pulled over at the side of the track before getting out. Due to where he parked it, a red flag isn't necessary. Ferrari can fit enough engine without picking up a penalty, but it's not an ideal start to their day.

02 Nov 2019

And he sets a lap time! At last! The Haas man does a 1:36.579. It ain't much, but at least the time sheet isn't empty anymore...

02 Nov 2019

Romain Grosjean is out trying to make up for lost time after his crash early in FP2 yesterday.

02 Nov 2019

No lap times as of yet, as the drivers try to get a feel for their cars and the circuit.

02 Nov 2019

MC Norris is dropping some bars out on track. Not literally, he's just rapping on the team radio.

02 Nov 2019

FP3 is underway, and Kevin Magnussen is the first man out.

02 Nov 2019

On a brighter note (literally), the sun is out! After conditions yesterday reminiscent of winter testing, it's a warm 18'C in Austin now, so expect stetsons and sunglasses replacing scarfs and snoods. Less than five minutes until FP3 begins.

02 Nov 2019

Perhaps not as harsh as the *seriously* bumpy COTA surface though. Drivers have been complaining about it all weekend, with Lewis Hamilton even claiming he had a headache from it after FP1. Expect some raised suspension setups running today.

02 Nov 2019

The biggest drama from the session came at the very end, with Sergio Perez failing to stop at the weighbridge before changing his tyres. This broke regulations and the Racing Point driver will therefore be starting from the pit-lane on Sunday. Harsh.

02 Nov 2019

The pecking order outside of the top six was far less obvious though, with for teams occupying the four remaining spots in the top ten. Pierre Gasly was P7, Carlos Sainz P8, Lance Stroll P9 and Antonio Giovinazzi P10.

02 Nov 2019

The top six was much more predictable than in Fp1, with Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas and Alex Albon ensuring that the big three teams occupied to the top spots.

02 Nov 2019

Lewis Hamilton topped yesterday's final session, going three tenths quicker than Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen after a disappointing FP1. He's looking like the man to beat this weekend.
