09 Aug 2020

Well well well, Mercedes can be beaten, it seems you just need softer tyres and very high track temperatures. The heat part should be there for the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend, but can Verstappen rise to the occasion again? Mercedes will be hurting and out to put things right. Join us then for what should be a fascinating Spanish Grand Prix.

09 Aug 2020

Gasly comes home P11, followed by Vettel, Sainz, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Grosjean, Giovinazzi, Russell and Latifi. Magnussen is the only retirement of the race.

09 Aug 2020

Leclerc, Albon, Stroll, Hulkenberg, Ocon, Norris and Kvyat complete the top 10.

09 Aug 2020

Hamilton finishes P2 to equal Michael Schumacher's record with his 155th podium, Bottas completes the podium.

09 Aug 2020

The Mercedes stranglehold on 2020 is over! Max Verstappen wins the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix! What a drive from the Dutchman and huge credit to Red Bull for nailing the strategy by starting him on the hards.

09 Aug 2020

9.5s lead for Verstappen now as he heads on to the last lap.

09 Aug 2020

Albon passes Stroll around the outside at Copse for P5. Another solid drive from the Thai driver, but he needs to find qualifying performance now.

09 Aug 2020

Hamilton takes P2 from Bottas with DRS down the Wellington straight. Verstappen is nine seconds up the road.

09 Aug 2020

Here we go!

09 Aug 2020

Hamilton will very shortly be on Bottas' tail. No team orders, Mercedes just tell them to be careful. A squabble between the pair could hand the win to Verstappen.

09 Aug 2020

Six laps to go and we have our first retirement of the afternoon, that being Magnussen who has retired his Haas to the garage.

09 Aug 2020

Leclerc put up more of a fight than expected but Hamilton gets the move done at Stowe to return to a podium spot.

09 Aug 2020

Hulkenberg pits from P5 to fit the soft tyres - the first time we have seen that compound in this race.

09 Aug 2020

Fastest lap of the race for Hamilton with a 1:28.4, he is right behind Leclerc now.

09 Aug 2020

Hamilton locked up badly on his way into the pits and is pestering Mercedes to confirm that he slowed down enough in time.

09 Aug 2020

No Mercedes aren't taking the chance. Hamilton pits for hard tyres and comes out in P4.

09 Aug 2020

Red Bull say there is a "small chance" that Hamilton will go the end so tell Verstappen to "close the gap". Bottas may be coming under pressure for P3 soon from Leclerc.

09 Aug 2020

Incredibly, it looks like Mercedes may be trying to go to the end with Hamilton.

09 Aug 2020

Hamilton tells Mercedes there must be "something wrong with the car" for the rear-left to be in such a bad condition.

09 Aug 2020

Verstappen and Bottas pit. Both have fitted the hard tyres with Verstappen staying ahead. Hamilton takes over the lead.

09 Aug 2020

Ricciardo spins at Village and drops out of the points. He stepped on the throttle a bit too early and round he went.

09 Aug 2020

Verstappen is told to give it everything he has on those mediums.

09 Aug 2020

Vettel tells Ferrari they have "messed up" his strategy. He is stuck in P12 behind a train of cars made up of Ocon, Kvyat, Ricciardo and Sainz.

09 Aug 2020

Magnussen gets a five-second time penalty for that little incident with Latifi.

09 Aug 2020

That didn't take long! Verstappen passes Bottas around the outside of Luffield for P1.

09 Aug 2020

Verstappen pits. He moves on to the medium tyres. Bottas just beats the Dutchman into P1 after a scruffy stop for Red Bull.

09 Aug 2020

Could Red Bull be on for their first win at Silverstone since 2012? It's looking promising right now.

09 Aug 2020

Bottas tells his team that his tyres are finished, Hamilton is now a pit stop behind Verstappen.

09 Aug 2020

Very ugly stop there for Sainz, he is slow in the box and then stops himself upon exit to avoid driving straight into Esteban Ocon.

09 Aug 2020

Verstappen was 1.4s faster than Bottas on that last lap.

09 Aug 2020

Gasly has lots of blistering on the rear-left and Albon takes full advantage to pass the man who he replaced at Red Bull for P12.

09 Aug 2020

The front-rights are blistering already for both Mercedes, Verstappen is pulling away slowly at the front. Game on!

09 Aug 2020

Magnussen and Latifi get a little physical as they battle over P19. Magnussen wins that battle but the Stewards' will have a look at that - the Dane swerved into the Williams of Latifi causing a bit of bodywork to be shed, but the fact he left the track to maintain that position will also concern them.

09 Aug 2020

Albon pulls a stunning overtake around the outside of Stowe on Raikkonen. Great racing from both drivers - Raikkonen is desperate to draw all the pace he can have out of that Alfa Romeo to have some fun.

09 Aug 2020

Hamilton boxes, he is now almost four seconds behind Bottas.

09 Aug 2020

Bottas pits from the race lead, he goes on to a new set of hard tyres.

09 Aug 2020

Norris is the latest to ditch the mediums, he just about manages to stay ahead of Gasly.

09 Aug 2020

"The rears are finished" says Hamilton.

09 Aug 2020

Hamilton is struggling on those mediums, Verstappen is all over his rear wing.

09 Aug 2020

Verstappen is reeling in the Mercedes, but Red Bull order him to "pull back" to save the tyres, to which he says he won't sit behind "like a grandma" because this could be his only chance to fight Mercedes.

09 Aug 2020

Russell also pits, as does Kevin Magnussen, promoting Vettel to P13.

09 Aug 2020

Albon pits already to ditch the medium tyres for the hard compound. Red Bull will be hoping for a Safety Car later in the race. Pierre Gasly does the same on Lap 8.

09 Aug 2020

Vettel has managed to clear Nicholas Latifi and former team-mate Raikkonen. He's now closing in on George Russell.

09 Aug 2020

Bottas has moved out of DRS range from Hamilton, but Mercedes tell him his front and rear left tyres are in a "critical" condition. It's only Lap 6 and the Finn is in clear air.

09 Aug 2020

Replays show Vettel taking too much kerb out of Turn 1 and then he simply loses the SF1000. Very nearly collected Carlos Sainz in the process. The Spaniard will be glad when he can finally take over behind the wheel of the Ferrari, because so far this year it keeps trying to take him out.

09 Aug 2020

Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Hulkenberg, Stroll, Ricciardo, Gasly, Norris, Albon and Leclerc are the 10 as we head onto Lap 3.

09 Aug 2020

And it's another spin for Vettel! He drops to last place. It looked like another unforced error.

09 Aug 2020

Bottas keeps the lead off the line, and just like last year at Silverstone the Mercedes battle into Brooklands on Lap 1. Bottas wins out. Verstappen jumps Hulkenberg into P3.

09 Aug 2020

It's a first for Pirelli - no driver is starting on the softest tyre compound.

09 Aug 2020

Bottas leads the pack away for the formation lap. A nice mix of hard and medium tyres on the cars outside the top 10.

09 Aug 2020

Less than five minutes to go until lights out!

09 Aug 2020

Alex Allbon heads over to his RB16 to get strapped in, how he needs a solid drive from P9 to relieve the mounting pressure. The same can be said for Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel who starts all the way down in P11 - the four-time World Champion needs a good race after a dismal weekend so far.

09 Aug 2020

The national anthem is complete, along with Formula 1's anti-racism message.

09 Aug 2020

20 minutes to go until the race start. The cars are in their positions on the grid.

09 Aug 2020

Alfa are slowly dropping into that lonely spot at the back where Williams found themselves last year, but things are looking up for the Grove outfit now and George Russell will start from P15. Does that first points finish arrive today for the Briton?

09 Aug 2020

But back to the racing, one team who wish they were running in those positions is Alfa Romeo. The team are still without a Q2 appearance in 2020, and Kimi Raikkonen summed them up as being "too f***ing slow".

09 Aug 2020

Racing Point owner Lawrence Stroll has been speaking about the whole Racing Point brake-duct saga, and he believes that "if they were running 7th, 8th, 9th or 10th, then these other teams would not be protesting at all."

09 Aug 2020

The drivers head out for a parade lap on their way to the grid. The sun is shining bright at Silverstone with air and track temperature rising all the time.

09 Aug 2020

In between those two is Max Verstappen. The Red Bull man is the only driver in the top 10 to start on the hard tyres, and he hopes to get a good start and make the most of what should be the best starting tyre for opening up strategy options later in the race.

09 Aug 2020

But Hulkenberg isn't the only driver craving a podium - Daniel Ricciardo starts from P5 with his eyes firmly set on a first podium in Renault colours.

09 Aug 2020

But let's be honest, all eyes are on Nico Hulkenberg today. The Racing Point stand in starts from P3 on the grid as he looks to finally end that record streak of 177 races without a podium.

09 Aug 2020

What isn't clear is which Mercedes driver has the advantage. Lewis Hamilton is out to tie Michael Schumacher's record of 155 podium finishes, but team-mate Valtteri Bottas is on pole. There has been little between them all weekend.

09 Aug 2020

The race is now one hour away, can anyone stop Mercedes? It looks like they would have to encounter some serious issues to let a 1-2 slip through their grasp. A couple of tyre failures should do it.

09 Aug 2020

Hello and welcome back to Silverstone for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix. The lights will go out at 1410 local time and all the grid build-up is on the way to you.

08 Aug 2020

Bottas tops the session ahead of Hamilton with Red Bull's Alex Albon in P3, 0.4s off the pace.

08 Aug 2020

Kvyat is out, his time was deleted for track limits and he gets eliminated in P16. Magnussen and Latifi join him, along with the struggling Alfa Romeos with Kimi Raikkonen slowest in Q1.

08 Aug 2020

Checkered flag out, the times are being pumped in.

08 Aug 2020

Two minutes to go, Albon, Magnussen, Raikkonen, Giovinazzi and Latifi all in the drop zone right now. Russell, Vettel and Stroll on the brink.

08 Aug 2020

Right, having seen the replay Ocon clearly blocked Russell out of Turn 5. Very dangerous and surely a grid penalty will come the Frechman's way.

08 Aug 2020

Mercedes return to the top, Hamilton is edging Bottas by two tenths of a second.

08 Aug 2020

Ocon and Russell will be investigated after the session.

08 Aug 2020

The Stewards' have noted an incident between Esteban Ocon and George Russell at Aintree. It isn't clear what happened at the moment.

08 Aug 2020

But Verstappen quickly takes care of that with a 1:27.154 to go fastest.

08 Aug 2020

Leclerc is 0.45s down on Hulkenberg after his first run, Vettel is almost 0.6s further back. But Mercedes set their first times of the session to go 1-2 with Bottas 0.056s up on Hamilton.

08 Aug 2020

Hulkenberg used the softs tyres as opposed to Haas on the C3 mediums.

08 Aug 2020

The Haas drivers set early flying laps on the medium tyres. Romain Grosjean wins out but Hulkenberg quickly displaces them at the top with a 1:27.2.

08 Aug 2020

On comes the green light, it's qualifying time.

08 Aug 2020

Just a few minutes now until qualifying begins. The sun is still shining strong at Silverstone - air temperature is up to 26c and track temp 44c. The C4 soft tyres are not going to be happy.

08 Aug 2020

As for Q1, it looks like Haas and Alfa Romeo are the teams who need to find something extra to make it through. Williams will likely be in that scrap as well.

08 Aug 2020

Charles Leclerc has a new power unit in his Ferrari, as does Vettel after his major failure on Friday. They will be hoping for no further dramas in qualifying.

08 Aug 2020

Two drivers coming into the session on the back foot are Alex Albon and Sebastian Vettel. Both have looked out of sorts in the Red Bull and Ferrari respectively this weekend and will hope to turn their fortunes around in qualifying.

08 Aug 2020

But Red Bull's Max Verstappen or the Racing Points of Lance Stroll and Nico Hulkenberg are arguably looking like the best bet to head the second row.

08 Aug 2020

Behind Mercedes it seems that 'best of the rest' P3 spot is wide open. Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris have seen surprise holders of it at different stages in free practice.

08 Aug 2020

As expected Mercedes topped all three practice sessions, but both Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton look evenly matched here at Silverstone heading into qualifying.

08 Aug 2020

Welcome back everyone, qualifying for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix is 30 minutes away. All times are local.

Bottas tops the session ahead of Hulkenberg in the Racing Point, though Hamilton was set to comfortably go P1 before backing off, he settles for P3. At the other end Vettel is out in P12, despite using the fastest tyres. He is joined by Ocon, Sainz, Grosjean and Russell who miss out on Q3.

08 Aug 2020

The clock ticks down to 0, final flying laps incoming.

08 Aug 2020

Such is Vettel's struggles Ferrari have bolted on a set of C4 soft tyres to try and get the four-time World Champion into Q3.

08 Aug 2020

Vettel just about escapes the bottom five on his first run, but Leclerc goes 0.6s faster than his team-mate to send him back into the elimination zone. Vettel looks all out of sorts.

08 Aug 2020

The first runs see Ricciardo sitting in P3.

08 Aug 2020

A scruffy opening sector for Hamilton as he sets a 1:26.266. Bottas quickly sets a 1:25.785 to go fastest.

08 Aug 2020

Both Mercedes head straight out on the yellow-walled medium tyres. Verstappen has opted for the hard tyres.

08 Aug 2020

The green light is on for Q2.

08 Aug 2020

No surprise that the Mercedes pair dominated, but there is plenty of interest going into the race. Bottas threatens to deny Hamilton that eighth career win at Silverstone, and can Hulkenberg be an early headache for the Silver Arrows from P3? Join us tomorrow for what is sure to be a fascinating 70th Anniversary Grand Prix!

08 Aug 2020

Hulkenberg will line up P3! What an effort from the Racing Point stand in. Verstappen P4, Ricciardo P5, Stroll P6, Gasly P7, Leclerc P8, Albon P9 and Norris P10 forms the top half of the grid for Sunday's race.

08 Aug 2020

It's pole for Bottas! Hamilton improves but a 1:25.154 from Bottas snatches it by 0.063s.

08 Aug 2020

Two minutes to go, drivers are crawling towards the line for their last flying laps. Mercedes have swapped to the mediums.

08 Aug 2020

Advantage Hamilton, he goes P1 with a 1:25.284, 0.116s ahead of Bottas. It's Ricciardo in P3 at the moment, but the Renault man is over a second off the pace, though it's a cracking lap from the Aussie on those medium tyres.

08 Aug 2020

A split in strategy here, the likes of Norris and both Mercedes are on the soft tyres, Ricciardo, Verstappen and Albon are on the mediums.

08 Aug 2020

Here we go, the fight for pole begins...between Hamilton and Bottas.

07 Aug 2020

Well, as expected Mercedes are in a class of their own at Silverstone again. Will they turn the engines up even further in FP2, or can Verstappen or the on-form Hulkenberg given them a wake-up call? Join us for FP2 to find out, see you soon!

07 Aug 2020

Gasly, Norris, Grosjean, Sainz, Russell, Latifi, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Kubica and Magnussen finish off the standings for FP1.

07 Aug 2020

Hulkenberg, Leclerc, Albon, Vettel, Stroll, Kvyat and Ocon complete the top 10.

07 Aug 2020

And there is the chequered flag to end the session - Bottas is on top 0.138s ahead of Hamilton and 0.7s clear of Verstappen, who just had another dodgy moment as he chopped across Raikkonen.

07 Aug 2020

Gasly, Norris, Grosjean, Sainz, Russell, Latifi, Ricciardo, Raikkonen and Kubica complete the current order.

07 Aug 2020

15 minutes to go, Bottas remains P1, 0.138s ahead of Hamilton. Verstappen, Hulkenberg, Leclerc, Albon, Vettel, Stroll, Kvyat and Ocon complete the current top 10.

07 Aug 2020

Albon is really struggling with understeer in that RB16. Doesn't look comfortable at all.

07 Aug 2020

Verstappen quickly moves into P3, though he came very close to collecting Leclerc through Maggotts and Becketts. The Dutchman quickly jumps on the radio to blast Red Bull for not telling him the Ferrari man was there.

07 Aug 2020

30 minutes to go and Verstappen is back out there looking to set his first timed lap of this session.

07 Aug 2020

A solid lap from Hulkenberg sends him up to P3 - a 1:26.942 on the C4s.

07 Aug 2020

Leclerc improves on his latest run with the softs but is still nearly nine tenths slower than Bottas.

07 Aug 2020

Raikkonen with another wide moment, this time at Copse as he takes too much kerb.

07 Aug 2020

40 minutes left to go in the session. Mercedes in a class of their own, as expected. Charles Leclerc is the fastest non-Mercedes driver right now, 1.378s down on Bottas' 1:26.166.

07 Aug 2020

Pierre Gasly is reporting that the front-left is already "a bit damaged after two push laps". Those front-lefts do not want to behave at Silverstone, and it does confirm that the C4s are a qualifying tyre as many thought.

07 Aug 2020

No limping now for Bottas as he goes P1, but Hamilton swiftly takes that spot for himself with a 1:26.842. The soft tyres are getting plenty of action as FP1 passes the 30-minute mark.

07 Aug 2020

Bottas complains of being in "limp home mode". He seems to have sorted his W11 out.

07 Aug 2020

Leclerc shaves four tenths off of that. How Ferrari would love to be battling over P1 and P2 again.

07 Aug 2020

Albon, armed with that very skinny rear wing on his RB16, goes into P3 on the softs, half a second down on Vettel who improves to a 1:27.9 to go fastest again.

07 Aug 2020

A 1:28.520 from Vettel on the softs gives us the first time of FP1, that benchmark is quickly better by two tenths courtesy of his Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc.

07 Aug 2020

Kimi Raikkonen has a trip onto the grass on his soft tyres, no harm done and he is back up to speed now.

07 Aug 2020

And now the track has gone very quiet. Verstappen has just returned to the pits after his short stint on the softs. Still no times set.

07 Aug 2020

Verstappen is one of many out there early on the soft tyres, they being the C4s for this weekend. Just three minutes in and the track is already very busy.

07 Aug 2020

Robert Kubica is taking part in this session for Alfa Romeo, he is borrowing Antonio Giovinazzi's C39.

07 Aug 2020

The green light is on, FP1 is underway!

07 Aug 2020

The track temperature is 34c.

07 Aug 2020

Just under five minutes to go now until FP1 gets underway. It's a toasty 25c out there already.

07 Aug 2020

Red Bull's Alex Albon is another driver who is generating some talk recently. After only four races in 2020 there are questions being raised about his future with the team, so the Thai driver desperately needs to push team-mate Max Verstappen this weekend.

07 Aug 2020

Sebastian Vettel is sure to face more questions about his future, we're sure he can't wait to talk about it all again. Bottas' new one-year contract ended any hopes of a Mercedes drive for Vettel, but he is hotly tipped to join Aston Martin for 2021 when they take over the Racing Point entry.

07 Aug 2020

Of course Racing Point are the biggest talking point heading into this weekend though after they were deducted 15 points, fined 400,000 Euros, and reprimanded for two races after their brake ducts were deemed illegal by the FIA. Nico Hulkenberg will be standing in for Sergio Perez again and we wait to see how their on-track performance will be affected. FP1 should give us some clues.

07 Aug 2020

In normal circumstances only Hamilton's Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas has a chance of denying him an eighth career win at Silverstone. The situation is critical now for Bottas who is 30 points behind Hamilton in the standings already after finishing outside the points at the British GP after his late tyre failure.

07 Aug 2020

And one of the biggest questions for this weekend is who can stop Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton? The Briton even won his home race on three wheels with the W11 looking absolutely mighty at Silverstone.

07 Aug 2020

By now the drivers are well acquainted with the Silverstone circuit, but warmer weather and softer tyres will mix things up - the drivers will want to be as busy as possible in FP1.

07 Aug 2020

Good morning and welcome back to Silverstone for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, otherwise known as the British GP part 2.

07 Aug 2020

It looks like only a major issue can stop Mercedes here at Silverstone, but the drivers will have one more practice session on Saturday before qualifying to find as much performance as they can. Join us then for FP3.

07 Aug 2020

Albon, Kvyat, Gasly, Vettel, Grosjean, Russell, Raikkonen, Magnussen, Latifi and Giovinazzi complete the order.

07 Aug 2020

Hamilton leads the Mercedes one-two this time ahead of Bottas, with Ricciardo a surprise name in P3. Verstappen, Stroll, Hulkenberg, Leclerc, Norris, Sainz and Ocon complete the top 10.

07 Aug 2020

Alfa Romeo's Giovinazzi has stopped at Becketts, also a Ferrari-powered car, that's the session over.

07 Aug 2020

The good news is they are continuing the session, but drivers will have to watch out for that oil on the track.

07 Aug 2020

Hamilton, Bottas and Ricciardo are the top three with five minutes to go, session may not restart.

07 Aug 2020

"Engine failure" says Vettel, he pulls off onto the grass just before Copse with oil pouring out of the SF1000. Virtual Safety Car is in operation.

07 Aug 2020

Raikkonen goes off onto the grass yet again, that C39 isn't working well at the moment with the Finn down in P17.

07 Aug 2020

Bottas finishes his 15-lap run on the medium tyres.

07 Aug 2020

The right-rear on Leclerc's Ferrari is looking tired as he continues his long run.

07 Aug 2020

Some dry ice on the Red Bull's rear brakes, it's super hot out there.

07 Aug 2020

That rain is still hanging around, as shown by the radar, but nothing has reached the track so far.

07 Aug 2020

Ricciardo pops up to P3 with a very handy 1:26.4 on the soft tyres.

07 Aug 2020

Mercedes swap places again as Hamilton sets a 1:25.606 on the medium tyres to retake P1.

07 Aug 2020

Bottas has moved on to the softs and goes fastest again with a 1:25.782.

07 Aug 2020

A nice lap from Verstappen on the mediums as he moves just over half a second adrift of Hamilton.

07 Aug 2020

Hamilton gets blocked a little by George Russell during his flying lap on the softs, but still goes fastest by 0.006s.

07 Aug 2020

Bottas isn't having any of that, into P1 the Mercedes man goes with a 1:25.917 on the medium tyres.

07 Aug 2020

A Racing Point one-two currently as Hulkenberg goes 0.049s faster than team-mate Stroll on the soft tyres.

07 Aug 2020

Stroll goes fastest by just under three tenths but on the soft tyres. It does seem like those C4s are struggling to keep their performance for a full lap.

07 Aug 2020

Daniil Kvyat sets a 1:27.4 on the medium tyres to go into P1 early in the session.

07 Aug 2020

The radar shows a sharp rain shower possibly heading for Silverstone. Just a few cars on the track currently.

07 Aug 2020

The green light is on, it's FP2 time!

07 Aug 2020

Of course at the moment the whole Racing Point debate has overtaken the racing somewhat. Currently Renault are considering whether or not to protest the sanctions imposed by the FIA on Racing Point. The FIA have also confirmed that there will be rule tweaks for 2021 to restrict car copying.

07 Aug 2020

At the other end of the order was Alfa Romeo who were ahead of only Kevin Magnussen in the FP1 standings. There were also a few wide moments for Kimi Raikkonen with that C39 looking a handful.

07 Aug 2020

Max Verstappen for Red Bull was the closest 'challenger' in FP1, but still he was over seven tenths behind Mercedes and had Nico Hulkenberg in the Racing Point for very close company.

07 Aug 2020

Valtteri Bottas topped the opening practice session ahead of Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton as the Silver Arrows put clear daylight between themselves and the rest of the pack.

07 Aug 2020

Hello and welcome back to Silverstone, FP2 is just 30 minutes away! All times are local.

08 Aug 2020

Well, unless something unthinkable happens like a tyre failure, Mercedes will top qualifying, but it's very difficult to call who will be best of the rest in P3 right now. So that gives every reason to tune in for qualifying, see you soon!

08 Aug 2020

And now for the rest of the runners - it's Gasly in P11, followed by Kvyat, Vettel, Ricciardo, Grosjean, Latifi, Russell, Giovinazzi, Raikkonen and Magnussen.

08 Aug 2020

Hulkenberg, Stroll, Leclerc, Verstappen, Albon, Ocon and Sainz complete the top 10.

08 Aug 2020

And that's session over, it's a Mercedes one-two again with Hamilton topping the session ahead of Bottas. Norris is the best of the rest this time around in P3.

08 Aug 2020

Ricciardo was looking mighty on that flying lap, but was left frustrated with Norris who overtook him on his out-lap and then got in his way on the flying lap. At least that shouldn't happen when they are team-mates next year, right?

08 Aug 2020

Hulkenberg moves back into P4 ahead of Stroll, but now the gap between them in a mere 0.007s.

08 Aug 2020

10 minutes to go in the session, it's Mercedes at the top with Hamilton ahead of Bottas, whilst Alfa Romeo have it all to do at the bottom.

08 Aug 2020

Now Mercedes are turning up the engines, a little. A 1:26.621 on the softs sends Hamilton back into P1.

08 Aug 2020

Bottas returns to P1 on the softs, setting a 1:26.784.

08 Aug 2020

A 1:27.2 from Norris sends him into P1 after going purple in sector 1. Leclerc moves into P3 armed with a new set of softs.

08 Aug 2020

Nico Hulkenberg continues to impress this weekend. He is P4 at the moment, four tenths down on Hamilton at the top but almost half a second faster than team-mate Lance Stroll. Both Racing Points were running the softs.

08 Aug 2020

Hamilton moves into P1, improving by two tenths with a 1:27.280. Verstappen improves as well to a 1:27.6.

08 Aug 2020

Albon has another new set of softs on but can manage only P7 for the moment, 0.851s behind Bottas and six tenths adrift of team-mate Verstappen.

08 Aug 2020

Verstappen was 0.2s up on Hamilton in the first sector of his flying lap, but was very upset with his second sector and falls 0.193s short of Bottas' fastest time.

08 Aug 2020

Hamilton slots into P2, 0.017s down on Bottas. Hopefully a good battle to come this weekend for the Mercedes boys.

08 Aug 2020

Ah look at that, a Mercedes on top. Valtteri Bottas sets a 1:27.5 on his first flying lap on the soft rubber.

08 Aug 2020

Lance Stroll moves into P1, but Pierre Gasly soon displaces him after delivering a 1:28.040. Both times were set on the softs.

08 Aug 2020

A nice little battle going on with Leclerc and Norris who are trading P1 times, but the real flat-out pace will be a few seconds faster than the 1:28s.

08 Aug 2020

Leclerc briefly goes fastest before Norris retakes P1 with a 1:28.923, though he was on the softs whilst Leclerc was on the medium tyres.

08 Aug 2020

McLaren set the first times of the session, Lando Norris takes an early P1 with a 1:29.236, 0.425s ahead of Carlos Sainz.

08 Aug 2020

Ferrari have confirmed that Charles Leclerc has received a new power unit as a precaution after Vettel's woes from Friday.

08 Aug 2020

And back into the pits comes Vettel.

08 Aug 2020

Sebastian Vettel heads straight out on the hard C2 tyres, his Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc soon follows.

08 Aug 2020

We have a green light, FP3 is underway!

08 Aug 2020

Just a few minutes to go now before FP3 begins. Air temp 23c, track temp 34c. A little cooler than yesterday but still a glorious day at Silverstone.

08 Aug 2020

Red Bull and Ferrari have fallen back into that midfield somewhat and will look to pull away again, but at the other end Alfa Romeo are fighting to remain in it.

08 Aug 2020

The midfield pack looks tight again this weekend, so now it's time to stop arguing about brake ducts and return their focus to the track.

08 Aug 2020

At the end of FP2 it was Daniel Ricciardo sitting best of the rest in P3 for Renault, he is now targeting a podium finish this weekend, but will need to keep up the pace in FP3 and of course qualifying first.

08 Aug 2020

Nobody has had an answer for Mercedes so far this weekend, FP3 is the final opportunity before qualifying to find any extra pace on the dominant Silver Arrows.
