06 Sep 2020

Thank you for joining us. Good bye.

06 Sep 2020

This is Formula 1! This is what we've been waiting for!

06 Sep 2020

Wow! What a duel between Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz!

06 Sep 2020

What an absolutely stunning race!

06 Sep 2020

Pierre Gasly, wins!

06 Sep 2020

3 laps remaining. Does Gasly have this in the bag?

06 Sep 2020

This is the most exciting race of the season! Justin case we didn't say it yet.

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton passes Perez for ninth place.

06 Sep 2020

The gap to Gasly is 1.7sec. It's all up to Sainz to close it.

06 Sep 2020

11 laps remaining and Sainz is 2.7sec behind Gasly. It's anyone's guess who will take the win.

06 Sep 2020

Raikkonen is slipping down the order and finds himself in seventh place.

06 Sep 2020

Wow, F1 is exciting again!

06 Sep 2020

Carlos Sainz takes second place from Raikkonen. He said to his team: "I want Gasly."

06 Sep 2020

Gasly's lead to Raikkonen is more than 3sec.

06 Sep 2020

Verstappen is retiring from the Italian GP.

06 Sep 2020

Is Red Bull watching this race? Because Gasly is making a fresh claim for Albon seat.

06 Sep 2020

Pierre Gasly is leading the race! And 1.4sec ahead of Raikkonen.

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton is in the pits and rejoins in last place. Can he make it up into the pits?

06 Sep 2020

Lance Stroll, who many thought could won the race, is down in fifth place.

06 Sep 2020

Raikkonen now in third place, behind Gasly and Hamilton!

06 Sep 2020

Drivers are following the safety car to the starting line. Expect some fireworks when the lights go out for the second time in this race.

06 Sep 2020

The race will resume at 16:20 - just a few more minutes.

06 Sep 2020

Kimi Raikkonen is also in a prime position to finish on the podium today.

06 Sep 2020

The last time the Italian GP was red flagged, was in 1995. The winner of that race was Johnny Herbert - F1 pundit for SkySports F1.

06 Sep 2020

Do you realise that Lance Stroll is in a prime position to win the race?

06 Sep 2020

The race is stopped to fix the barriers where Leclerc went off the track.

06 Sep 2020

Leclerc goes into the barricades at the Parabolica.

06 Sep 2020

Charles Leclerc is out!

06 Sep 2020

Lance Stroll is yet to pit and could find himself at the back of the grid when he does so.

06 Sep 2020

Leclerc passes both Alfa Romeos at the restart!

06 Sep 2020

What a shakeup! Raikkonen and Leclerc are now in fifth and sixth place, respectively, while Sainz is down in 8th place and Norris in 9th.

06 Sep 2020

Carlos Sainz is leading the race! Albeit behind the safety car.

06 Sep 2020

Interesting... Antonio Giovinazzi and Lewis Hamilton under investigation for illegally entering the pits.

06 Sep 2020

And the safety car is out as marshals move Magnussen's car from the track.

06 Sep 2020

Kevin Magnussen becomes the second driver to retire from the race.

06 Sep 2020

Leclerc pits for the Hard tyre. He rejoins in 17th place.

06 Sep 2020

Alex Albon passes Ferrari's Charles Leclerc for 13th place. Ferrari is under serious pressure.

06 Sep 2020

The gap between Norris (3rd) and Verstappen (7th) is less than 4sec. It's going to take a mistake from someone for any overtaking to take place.

06 Sep 2020

Max Verstappen is closing in on Bottas and could make a move for sixth place.

06 Sep 2020

Just a lap later, Hamilton's lead is now up to 6sec.

06 Sep 2020

Sergio Perez is hunting down Lando Norris who is currently in third place.

06 Sep 2020

We're 10 laps in and Hamilton is leading from Sainz by more than 5sec.

06 Sep 2020

We'll be covering it right here from Friday onwards, so join us then. In the meantime, raise a glass tonight for Pierre Gasly. Something tells me he'll be raising quite a few. Cheers.

06 Sep 2020

Well, to say that race is a tough act to follow would be a gross understatement. The track handed that task is Mugello. It'll be the first time F1 ever heads there, and if it's half as good as today, it'll be a cracking first one.

06 Sep 2020

Pierre Gasly has had as hard a year as anyone, and deserves this win more than anyone. What a story, and what a man.

06 Sep 2020

It's fair to say that F1 needed a race like that, and needed a race-winner like that.

06 Sep 2020

And breath. What. A. Race.

06 Sep 2020

Ocon, Kvyat and Perez complete the top 10.

06 Sep 2020

Bottas held off Ricciardo to take P5, but with Hamilton recovering to finish in P7, he won't be a happy man.

06 Sep 2020

Stroll takes Racing Point's first podium under that name, while Norris finishes in P4 to complete a great day for McLaren.

06 Sep 2020

Sainz got closer than ever on the final lap but just didn't have enough time... Still, P2 isn't half bad.

06 Sep 2020

Pierre Gasly wins the Italian Grand Prix!!!!!!!

06 Sep 2020

He's closer than ever...

06 Sep 2020

Final lap and Sainz now has DRS!

06 Sep 2020

Sainz still just outside DRS range, Gasly's about to become a race winner...

06 Sep 2020

Three laps left. It's tight... Gasly doing enough at the moment.

06 Sep 2020

Gasly is driving flawlessly, but the McLaren looks a lot quicker on the straights thanks to the tow. With DRS too, the Spaniard may well take the win.

06 Sep 2020

Gap at the front now 1.3 seconds. Sainz almost in DRS range...

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton is up into the points in P10.

06 Sep 2020

Sainz was three tenths quicker than Gasly on the last lap...

06 Sep 2020

Sainz has now closed the gap to 1.9 seconds... This could be tight.

06 Sep 2020

With 10 laps left, Gasly leads and is 2.6 seconds ahead of Sainz.

06 Sep 2020

He breezes past Grosjean and Russell.

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton takes P14 from Albon.

06 Sep 2020

With his current pace, Gasly will just about stay ahead of Sainz and become an F1 race winner. No pressure, Pierre.

06 Sep 2020

Bottas and Ricciardo the latest to pass Kimi as Hamilton reaches the back of the pack.

06 Sep 2020

Sainz is 3.5 seconds behind Gasly and catching...

06 Sep 2020

Norris does the same. Raikkonen is dropping like a stone.

06 Sep 2020

Stroll the next to pass the Finn!

06 Sep 2020

Sainz takes P2 from Raikkonen at Turn 2! He now sets off after Gasly.

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton setting fastest lap after fastest lap.

06 Sep 2020

Bottas is stuck in P6 behind Norris and doesn't look like passing the McLaren.

06 Sep 2020

Verstappen retires from the race! He pulls into the pits with a mechanical issue.

06 Sep 2020

Giovinazzi comes in to serve his penalty.

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton is now 30 seconds off the lead and has an entire grid ahead of him.

06 Sep 2020

Verstappen made a poor restart and dropped down to P14.

06 Sep 2020

With Hamilton coming in to serve his penalty, Gasly leads the race ahead of the Alfa Romeos.

06 Sep 2020

Stroll's poor start means Gasly is P2!

06 Sep 2020

We're back underway! Hamilton flies off the line while Stroll drops back alongside him!

06 Sep 2020

Cars heading to the grid. My word this will be fun.

06 Sep 2020

Reluctantly, Hamilton will take his penalty immediately after the start.

06 Sep 2020

As if things weren't exciting enough, we're going to get a standing start. Tasty.

06 Sep 2020

Predictions? At this point, a Stroll, Gasly, Sainz podium seems a good bet. No, really.

06 Sep 2020

The race will restart in 10 minutes. Get your toilet breaks in now, because the next 26 laps are going to be unmissable.

06 Sep 2020

Meanwhile, Mercedes are doing work on Bottas's car.

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton has gone to visit the stewards to presumably complain about his penalty.

06 Sep 2020

With Hamilton set to drop back, Stroll will lead the race. He had yet to pit, but can change tyres under the Red Flag, so he's in a great position.

06 Sep 2020

With everyone out of their cars in the pit-lane, here's how things stand: P1 Hamilton (penalty to serve), P2 Stroll, P3 Gasly, P4 Raikkonen, P5 Giovinazzi, P6 Sainz, P7 Norris, P8 Bottas, P9 Latifi, P10 Ricciardo, P11 Verstappen, P12 Ocon, P13 Kvyat, P1

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton has been given a 10-second stop-go penalty! He'll lose about 30 seconds total, and will take it with the field bunched up so will drop to the bottom.

06 Sep 2020

The race will be stopped while Leclerc's car is cleared and the damage to the barriers is repaired.

06 Sep 2020

Red flag!

06 Sep 2020

Giovinazzi has received a 10-second stop-go penalty for entering the pit-lane when closed. Expect Hamilton to receive the same.

06 Sep 2020

There's unsurprisingly another Safety Car.

06 Sep 2020

Maybe not. It looks like he just lost the back end at the final turn.

06 Sep 2020

He's okay, but that was a big one. It looks like it was a brake failure.

06 Sep 2020

Leclerc is out! That's a huge crash.

06 Sep 2020

Leclerc gets away well at the restart and passes both Alfas to take P4 behind Gasly.

06 Sep 2020

Bottas managed to pass Ricciardo and Perez in the pits.

06 Sep 2020

Gasly, Leclerc and the Alfa Romeos all pitted before the SC and have benefitted massively.

06 Sep 2020

SC coming in this lap...

06 Sep 2020

The pit-lane is now open and everyone who had yet to pit comes in, asides from Stroll.

06 Sep 2020

Well, the fight for the win just got interesting!

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton is under investigation for entering it while it was closed. If the call was made before he pitted, it's a penalty for sure. A big one.

06 Sep 2020

There are claims that the pit-lane entry was actually closed under the SC so that Magnussen's car could be pushed down it. If so, Hamilton will be in trouble.

06 Sep 2020

Hamilton pits for mediums, but the rest of the lead pack stay out. Hmmm.

06 Sep 2020

Safety Car called out while the Haas is moved!

06 Sep 2020

Magnussen pulls over and retires. "Something broke," he says.

06 Sep 2020

Leclerc comes in for hards. He'll go to the end of the race on them. Or at least try to.

06 Sep 2020

Albon passes Leclerc. If you told them both they'd be fighting for P13 at the start of the season, they'd both be very unhappy indeed.

06 Sep 2020

Bottas has said he's struggling with engine temperatures. They're obviously getting too high in dirty air. He's currently in P6 and not looking quick.

06 Sep 2020

Sainz has pulled away from Norris and is now comfortable in P2. Behind him, Perez is no longer within DRS range of the Brit. Happy days for McLaren.

06 Sep 2020

As Hamilton cruises, things behind him are tight, with a queue from Sainz in P2 to Verstappen in P7.

06 Sep 2020

Albon has been given a five-second time-penalty for an incident with Romain Grosjean.

06 Sep 2020

He coasts into the pit-lane. Just when you think things can't get any worse for Ferrari...

06 Sep 2020

Vettel has a brake failure! That's his race over.

06 Sep 2020

While it's exciting seeing a Mercedes struggle, it does mean that it's plain sailing for Hamilton at the front. He's 2.5 seconds ahead of Sainz already.

06 Sep 2020

The only man to have a worse start than Bottas was Albon, who tangled with Gasly and dropped down to P14.

06 Sep 2020

Verstappen retakes P7 from Stroll at Turn 2.

06 Sep 2020

After the first lap, Bottas is in P6 and Verstappen in P8. This will be fun.

06 Sep 2020

Bottas thinks he has a puncture or some sort of problem.

06 Sep 2020

Behind him, Stroll passes Verstappen!

06 Sep 2020

The Finn goes wide and falls behind Perez and Ricciardo too!

06 Sep 2020

Norris passes Bottas to take P3!

06 Sep 2020

And we're off! Hamilton gets away well but Bottas doesn't and loses out to Sainz!

06 Sep 2020

The formation lap is underway. Here we go...

06 Sep 2020

The top 10 all start on softs.

06 Sep 2020

Gotta say, I'm missing fans more here than at any other race. See you next year, Tifosi.

06 Sep 2020

There are a few clouds, but the temperature is high and the chance of rain is extremely low. Sorry.

06 Sep 2020

The drivers have completed their usual anti-racism message and are now lined up for the national anthem.

06 Sep 2020

Today's race marks the end of an era for one of the sport's most iconic teams. If you haven't heard, it's the last race in which Williams will led by the team that founded them. After it, Claire Williams will leave her role as Deputy Team Principal.

06 Sep 2020

The cars have made their way to the grid and are ready to go. Just over 20 minutes until lights out.

06 Sep 2020

Without any, there's not a huge amount they can do in terms of strategy. It looks like it'll be a one-stop for everyone, barring incidents, featuring the soft and medium compounds.

06 Sep 2020

The same can be said for Charles Leclerc. While he starts ahead of his team-mate, everyone ahead of him is in a car faster than the Ferrari. If the Italian team don't want to leave Monza empty-handed, they'll need a well-timed Safety Car or two.

06 Sep 2020

Outside of the top 10, the stand-out result from yesterday was of course Sebastian Vettel being knocked out in Q1. While his last lap was compromised by traffic, a P17 start is still fairly representative of his car's pace. Getting into the points looks a

06 Sep 2020

The full grid for today's race: P1 Hamilton, P2 Bottas, P3 Sainz, P4 Perez, P5 Verstappen, P6 Norris, P7 Ricciardo, P8 Stroll, P9 Albon, P10 Gasly, P11 Kvyat, P12 Ocon, P13 Leclerc, P14 Raikkonen, P15 Magnussen, P16 Grosjean, P17 Vettel, P18 Giovinazzi,

06 Sep 2020

Completing the top 10 are Lance Stroll, Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly.

06 Sep 2020

Behind the Dutchman is McLaren's 2021 lineup, Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo. Like Verstappen, the Aussie is expecting his Renault to be quicker today, so expect a lot of action.

06 Sep 2020

Max Verstappen hasn't had the best weekend so far, and it showed in qualy as he could only managed P5. Nevertheless, he's confident that his car will have enough pace in the race to give him yet another podium.

06 Sep 2020

Things look a little different behind them. Carlos Sainz put in an excellent lap to stick his McLaren on the front of the second row, and he'll have Sergio Perez alongside him in P4.

06 Sep 2020

As per usual, Mercedes locked out the front row. Things were tight between Hamilton and Bottas all day, but the Brit prevailed by less than half a tenth to take pole position. If the Finn wants to beat him today, he may well need to get him at the start.

06 Sep 2020

in case you missed yesterday's qualifying or need a reminder, here's how today's grid shapes up...

06 Sep 2020

Buona sera and welcome to live coverage of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix! All times are local to Monza.

04 Sep 2020

With everyone jockeying for tows, tomorrow's qualifying session is sure to be quite something. Before it though, we have FP3, which will begin at noon local time. We'll start covering it half an hour before the green light, so join us then. Arrivederci.

04 Sep 2020

The final order for FP2: P1 Hamilton, P2 Bottas, P3 Norris, P4 Gasly, P5 Verstappen, P6 Sainz, P7 Kvyat, P8 Stroll, P9 Leclerc, P10 Perez, P11 Ocon, P12 Vettel, P13 Giovinazzi, P14 Albon, P15 Ricciardo, P16 Magnussen, P17 Raikkonen, P18 Grosjean, P19 Lat

04 Sep 2020

So too did Daniel Ricciardo, whose deleted lap was the quickest of anyone not in a Mercedes. He may well find himself at the front of the second row come the race on Sunday.

04 Sep 2020

It wasn't the best of days for Verstappen who, after finishing in P4 earlier, ended the afternoon session in P5. Albon finished in P14, but he had a time deleted.

04 Sep 2020

Hamilton went over two tenths quicker than Bottas to top the session. He was nearly a second quicker than Norris and Gasly in P3 and P4.

04 Sep 2020

That's that for FP2. Conclusions? Bet your life on Mercedes locking out the front row tomorrow.

04 Sep 2020

Norris has finally got the chance to do some times and has made the most of it. On softs, he goes straight up to P3.

04 Sep 2020

Kvyat has just been told "Purple Rain" on the radio. Going to have that stuck in my head all day long. Great.

04 Sep 2020

Leclerc has just done almost the exact same thing. "The car is so hard to drive," he says.

04 Sep 2020

Yellow flag as Vettel loses the back end and spins. He just about stopped before his back went into the barriers.

04 Sep 2020

Most are out on race simulations now, so don't expect much movement on the time sheets.

04 Sep 2020

Norris hasn't had an ideal session. At the start, he couldn't get out on track because of an issue with his front left. Now, the team has confirmed he has an engine problem.

04 Sep 2020

Leclerc and Vettel are now in P8 and P11 after some qualifying runs. Well, could be worse.

04 Sep 2020

Just under half an hour to go, and again things are pretty quiet.

04 Sep 2020

All hail Pierre Gasly, the man who has saved us from the painfully predictable top three by going a tenth quicker than Verstappen.

04 Sep 2020

Leclerc: "I mean it's good training for qualy but it's going to be a disaster".

04 Sep 2020

The traffic jams just for the qualifying simulations are quite something, can't wait to see what actual qualifying looks like tomorrow.

04 Sep 2020

Ricciardo briefly went P3 before having his lap-time delated for exceeding track limits. That means that the top three, once again, is HAM, BOT, VER.

04 Sep 2020

Times are tumbling down. Hamilton goes P1 with a 1:20.192 while Bottas goes two tenths slower. Both on softs.

04 Sep 2020

Sainz heads out on them and goes P3.

04 Sep 2020

Most cars back in the pits now. We should see some running on the soft tyres when they're back out.

04 Sep 2020

We now have a top three of Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen. Hello darkness my old friend.

04 Sep 2020

Vettel goes P15, a place and less than a tenth down on Leclerc.

04 Sep 2020

P3 for Verstappen.

04 Sep 2020

On mediums, Hamilton goes top with his first lap, a 1:21.085.

04 Sep 2020

Gasly is flying. the Frenchman improves again, doing a 1:21.578. Ocon now the closest man to him.

04 Sep 2020

Sainz and Leclerc take P2 and P3.

04 Sep 2020

The Red Bull improves to go top with a 1:22.3 before Gasly goes three tenths quicker.

04 Sep 2020

Stroll gets on the board early with a 1:22.556 on mediums. Albon goes three tenths slower.

04 Sep 2020

We're already seeing shenanigans regarding drivers trying to take tows from each other.

04 Sep 2020

The session is underway.

04 Sep 2020

This will be the most important FP2 session in quite some time, due to the "party mode" ban. Because of it, teams will have to decide beforehand what engine modes they'll run for qualifying tomorrow.

04 Sep 2020

Still, he'll be considerably happier than the Ferrari drivers, who finished the session in P11 and P19. They didn't run the soft tyre, but neither did AlphaTauri, and their cars ended up P4 and P6, so that's no excuse. Again, the car just isn't very good.

04 Sep 2020

Bottas wasn't the only number two driver to get the better of the lead man as Albon pipped Verstappen to P3. To make matters worse for the Dutchman, he also lost a front wing when he kissed the barrier at Ascari.

04 Sep 2020

You'll never guess who were the top two in FP1 earlier today... That's right, it was Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton. The Finn took top spot by just over two tenths from his team-mate.

Hello and welcome to Monza for live coverage of FP2 of the Italian Grand Prix! All times are local to the venue.

04 Sep 2020

FP2 will begin in just over two hours at 15:00 local time, and our coverage will start half an hour beforehand. Join us then for a better idea of this weekend's pecking order.

04 Sep 2020

The final order for FP1: P1 Bottas, P2 Hamilton, P3 Albon, P4 Kvyat, P5 Verstappen, P6 Gasly, p7 Perez, P8 Norris, P9 Ricciardo, P10 Sainz, P11 Leclerc, P12 Ocon, P13 Stroll, P14 Grosjean, P15 Magnussen, P16 Giovinazzi, P17 Raikkonen, P18 Nissany, P19 Ve

04 Sep 2020

The two stand-outs of the session are AlphaTauri and Ferrari, for very different reasons. Red Bull's sister team finished in P4 and P6, not even using the soft tyre. Ferrari meanwhile end it in P11 and P19. I bet they can't wait for qualifying.

04 Sep 2020

It's been a good session for number two drivers, with Bottas beating Hamilton to P1 and Albon taking P3 just ahead of Verstappen.

04 Sep 2020

No late improvements, and that's that for FP1.

04 Sep 2020

Yellow flags as Gasly takes a trip through the gravel at the second chicane.

04 Sep 2020

Three minutes to go.

04 Sep 2020

The medium tyre looks good here, and not too far off the soft in terms of pace. Expect to see quite a few drivers try to get into Q3 on it tomorrow.

04 Sep 2020

Vettel finishing rock bottom in FP3 last weekend was a low point for Ferrari, and it could happen again. He's currently P19...

04 Sep 2020

AlphaTauri are looking strong here. Kvyat and Gasly are currently P4 and P6, and neither has used the soft compound.

04 Sep 2020

On the quickest compound, Verstappen can only just get within a second of Bottas. That's encouraging...

04 Sep 2020

Most cars have softs fitted and are looking for slipstreams. It's time for some quali runs.

04 Sep 2020

Bottas improves by almost a second, doing a 1:20.703 on softs.

04 Sep 2020

Leclerc and Vettel are currently P11 and P14.

04 Sep 2020

No cars out on track at the moment. 40 minutes to go.

04 Sep 2020

The Dutchman is back in the pits, but there may be some damage to the floor. Not an ideal start to the weekend.

04 Sep 2020

Red Flag! Verstappen goes off into the gravel at the Ascari chicane and takes his front-wing off hitting the barrier.

04 Sep 2020

Bottas goes 0.019s quicker than his team-mate.

04 Sep 2020

Not for long though as the Red Bulls and Ricciardo all go quicker.

04 Sep 2020

Stroll and Perez take P2 and P3, both on hards.

04 Sep 2020

Just as I type that, the Brit takes P1 with a 1:21.676.

04 Sep 2020

Verstappen, on hards, goes seven thousandths down slower than Albon. On the same tyre, Hamilton goes half a second slower.

04 Sep 2020

Albon takes P1 and stays there this time. Bottas goes a tenth down on mediums. Lap times flying in now.

04 Sep 2020

No such troubles for Raikkonen however who puts in a 1:25.198.

04 Sep 2020

Scrap that, he had his time delated.

04 Sep 2020

Action on the lap board at last! It comes courtesy of Alex Albon, who does a 1:24.088 on the medium tyre.

04 Sep 2020

No lap times as of yet. Thrilling stuff.

04 Sep 2020

It's the regular grid for FP1, with one exception. Roy Nissany is driving the Williams of George Russell. This is of course the last weekend that the team will be led by the Williams family. Let's hope it's a good one.

04 Sep 2020

We're off, with Sebastian Vettel leading the way.

04 Sep 2020

Will things get any better for the Italians on home turf? Give the layout here and their engine, it's doubtful. Still, we'll find out soon, as FP1 starts in just five minutes.

04 Sep 2020

Ferrari currently separate Racing Point and Renault, but their pace is so poor that even they will have accepted they're not really in the battle for P3 in the Constructors'. The highlight for the team last weekend was both cars scraping into Q2. They fin

04 Sep 2020

Behind Renault, things were fairly tight in Belgium between McLaren and Racing Point in terms of pace. Things are even tighter in the standings, with the British just two points ahead of the pink panthers and nine clear of Renault.

04 Sep 2020

While Verstappen is usually in a league of his own behind Mercedes, that wasn't the case at Spa, as Daniel Ricciardo started and finished the race close behind the Dutchman. With straight line speed being the Renault's biggest strength, the Aussie may wel

04 Sep 2020

Let's get the obvious out the way. The Mercedes is the fastest car, and it's not particularly close. Lewis Hamilton won with ease last time out, while Valtteri Bottas, despite having an off day, still finished comfortably ahead of Max Verstappen. Thankful

04 Sep 2020

Mattia Binotto is hoping that the "party mode" ban will shake up the pecking order. Here's what that pecking order is heading into the weekend.

04 Sep 2020

Welcome to Monza, home of the Italian Grand Prix and the tifosi. Formula 1 arrives at the Monza circuit without 'party mode' and without any sign of a party for Ferrari.
