A day after six-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton called out prominent names in the sport for their deafening silence on racism, the Mercedes F1 team has issued a statement in support of their driver.
On Sunday Hamilton posted on Instagram: "I see those of you who are staying silent, some of you the biggest of stars get you stay silent in the midst of injustice."
The 35-year-old is the only F1 black driver and said: "Not a sign from anybody in my industry which of course is a white dominated sport."
The Briton has voiced his opinion as a wave of protests sweeps the United States after the death of George Floyd. The 46-year-old was killed by a police officer who has his knew on Floyd's neck for close to nine minutes.
Mercedes-AMG F1 posted a message on Twitter as F1 drivers also threw their support behind the black lives matter movement.
