Kia has released the cat among the pigeons by adding an incentive with every new Picanto bought in South Africa before 31 December 2020. The incentive will see new Picanto owners receive two free tanks of fuel every month for six months*.

Stephen Crosse, sales director, Kia Motors South Africa, says: "As a brand, Kia Motors consistently strives to offer the best value for money. The Picanto is recognised as one of the best cars you can buy in the highly-competitive A-segment, and by including six months' worth of free fuel in the package, we're extending the value proposition even further."

The Picanto was first introduced to South Africans in 2003 and has, over its three generations, impressed with its value-for-money proposition. This proposition is why Kia South Africa added the incentive to the Picanto deal. The Picanto range offers a comprehensive unlimited km/five-year warranty, roadside assistance for the duration of the warranty, and a standard two-year/30 000km service plan.

The Picanto family

The Picanto lineup consists of four models: Start, Street, Style, and Smart. The Start is the entry-level model to the range and is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine (49kW and 96Nm). As the entry point, the Picanto Start offers a comprehensive array of standard comfort, convenience, and safety features like dual front airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Power steering, an adjustable steering column, manual air-conditioning, as well as a radio with RDS and MP3 capability, Aux and USB connector jacks, Bluetooth connectivity and two speakers are all standard items, to name but a few.

The rest of the range builds on the Start's offering, with additional features like electric windows, an eight-inch colour touchscreen, LED daytime running lights, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, model dependent, of course.

A second petrol engine is also available: a 1.25-litre unit that produces 61kW and 122Nm. Both engines send their power to the front wheels via either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

*Fuel calculated at full tank capacity of 35 litres in a Kia Picanto, with cost per litre being R14.83 at two tanks per month. Please note that this is dependent on driver behaviour and the type of traffic customers travel in on a daily basis.
