When Daihatsu exited the South African market five years ago, many compact car buyers were disappointed. 

As a dedicated small vehicle specialist Daihatsu is skilled at making affordable cars, that doesn't feel cheap to drive - or own. This is the reason why Toyota has been a shareholder in the company since the late 1960s and took full ownership of the brand in 2106.
