A car that defines trends. The first-generation Toyota Corolla Quest (underpinned by the 10th generation Corolla) is one of South Africa's most popular cars and dominates the sedan segment.

Since 2014, the Japanese manufacturer has sold close to 64 000 Quests.

And with the launch of the new Corolla Quest based on the 11th-generation Corolla, Glenn Crompton, Toyota SA's marketing vice president says: "Understanding that there is still a need for an affordable sedan in our market was one of the driving factors in developing the new Corolla Quest."

The big change to the 'new' car is that all models will be powered by a 1.8-litre engine and three trim levels, namely Standard, Prestige and Exclusive. There is a CVT 'gearbox' offered with each derivative, a six-speed manual is standard.

The entry-level Standard model will definitely find favour with fleet owners and Uber drivers as it boasts a matte-black grille and bumper, 15-inch steel wheels and core specification features.

The middle of the range Prestige grade has a 'colour-coded exterior treatment, 16-inch alloy wheels and added comfort ‘spec’.'

While the flagship Exclusive model, adds 'chrome exterior elements, a colour-coded front bumper treatment, and a high-standard specification set.'

There's a high level of standard equipment offered, with all models featuring 'auto door-lock with remote operation, electric windows, air-conditioner, steering wheel switches, follow-me-home headlights, radio/CD with USB, Aux, and a minimum of four speakers.'

The Prestige model adds a touchscreen DVD audio system with six speakers, reverse camera, cruise control, leather steering wheel, combination fabric, and leather seats. While the flagship Quest has auto air-con, a push start with keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers and LED headlights.
