There have been horror stories where sellers have turned the kilometers back on the clock or even threw tiny pieces of wood into an engine to hide any rattling noises.

It also helps to have a mechanic or someone with good knowledge about cars with you when making your decision.

Another tip is never to tell the seller how much you have, but starting with a lower price and gauging from there.
