There has been plenty of hype around the new Land Rover Defender, because for the first time in a long time a new model made its appearance.

The excitement around the new SUV is not just limited to a select few, because it also garnered the attention of film makers. More precisely, the people responsible for the 007 movies.

That’s right, the upcoming James Bond movie, 'No time to die', will feature the new Defender in quite a high-flying way. How so? Well, Land Rover released a short behind-the-scenes video of the Defender doing a 30m jump.

That’s quite a distance! Of course, Land Rover said the Defender has been left largely untouched for the jump.

Nick Collins, Land Rover Defender vehicle line director said: "We developed a new test standard for Defender, the most challenging we’ve ever had and unique to this vehicle.

"Physical strength and durability is measured by a number of different tests including a bridge jump test which gave us confidence to deliver what the stunt team needed to create for 'No Time To Die', with no modifications to the body structure except the installation of a roll cage."

The new Landy

The Defender is an important vehicle in Land Rover’s arsenal. It’s been around for a good couple of decades before finally being axed a few years ago. Rumours of a new model started circulating shortly after the axing, until a concept was finally shown.

The concept was a big departure from the old model, and one almost feared that the new Defender would stray from the essence of what made the SUV such a big success over the years.

Fortunately, despite it being a technological tour de force, the Defender looks to be continuing with the off-road prowess its predecessor revered for. It features Land Rover’s latest and newest technologies, and has no plans other than dominating the 4x4 market as it’s been doing over the course of its history.
